You probably accidentally changed the codes for your devices. If you still have the manual for the remote, there should be a list of codes for various types and brands of TVs, VCRs, cable boxes, etc.

If you don't still have the manual, you can probably find it online on your TV manufacturer's website.


I'm assuming you've already tried fresh batteries in the remote.

The most likely candidate for a solution is that the remote's code has been accidentally changed on your TV. It can be reprogrammed easily. Follow the manuals for your TV model. Often times you can Google to find your model and year and get that info online.

There's a remote chance (pun intended), the sensor for the remote on the TV went bad or is being blocked. The Cable box's remote works, of course, because that remote sensor is working fine.
