No but that the US government is now in control of special interests of one kind or another with no concern other then lip service near election times of the will and best interests of the citizens at large.

The US had now placed more of it citizens behind bars for one reason or another then almost any nation in the history of the world.

An we had a so call justice system that now punish nine out of ten people in the system without jury trials.

And so on as in the government is no longer working for the best interest of the people as a whole.

It almost seems like this is a religion matter to you as it the law so we should respect it not matter how stupid and unfair it might be.

The only laws I've discussed with you are the laws for rape/sexual assault, child pornography, and drunk driving. I find none of those laws stupid or unfair.

You. on the other hand, never actually read any of the laws. And most of your thinking reflects that ignorance.

@BillRM,
You're a joke.

In this thread you've advocated for a legal BAC level double the current level, and then you wave the Constitution and advocate revolution in protest about drunk driving laws.

Go fly a kite. Laughing

You want to get drunk, fine, just don't get behind the wheel of your car--even if its parked.

And in your mind the law is always right, because in the fantasy land in which you live unjust and unwise laws are always swiftly nullified....

OK, I did not read it all. I just responded to her remark.
It seems to me that car owners have property rights
to enter their cars while drunk, tho not to move those cars until sober.

What if it is raining, and the drunk is getting wet ????

I will read up on her explanation. Thank u.

Take note of her assertion that the state has the right to punish the act of getting into your car if you have keys because the state claims that it fears that you will attempt to drive the car while drunk. THe state does not need to wait to see if there is a bad act according to her, claims of fear is all it needs to swing the sword against you.

Thank u. I am skeptical that the legislature of Florida
has jurisdiction to do that. It seems unconstitutional to me,
as long as he does not move the car.

I can conceive of a drunk needing to get in there
to get emergency medical supplies or innumerable other things
to which he has property rights, e.g., his cell fone.

Summing up the Constitution, in general:
we r supposed to be living in a FREE COUNTRY.

Jurisdiction does not grow out of emotions.

HOWEVER, that is not to say that thugs in uniform
will not throw their weight around, regardless.
How the judiciary will resolve the individual question in the end is unpredictable.

My commentary is based upon the textual history of the Constitution.
In my opinion, drunks have Constitutional rights to use their cars
to sleep it off
(among many other things), as long as thay don't move their cars.

And yet men are hung for rape every day because women claim that they could not open their mouths and say "NO!"...or even "no".....the law long ago became corrupted to support the emotional needs of those we call victims, where have you been hiding out that you dont know this?

@hawkeye10,
Why don't you give some examples of men being hanged for rape? Most of the time rapes go unreported. There are a few examples where men are unjustly accused of rape, but this pales into insignificance when compared to the amount of unreported rapes.

This thread is about drinking and driving, why not go whining somewhere else?

@firefly,
Lord that is not a reason that it is illegal there should be some logic somewhere other then it illegal.

Strange used of a law to tell someone you should drive home drunk instead of sleeping it off as the risk of getting a DUI is likely to be far less by driving home for 20 minutes then sleeping for hours on a parking lot!!!!!!

Take note Hawkeye Firefly will not tell us of one repeat one law that she does not respect dealing with any subject.

It is more of a religion belief for her concerning the subject of laws then anything else I can think of.

@BillRM,
I'm not here to argue for American laws, but I imagine it's to stop drunk drivers who have been stopped by the police prior to starting the engine, from claiming they weren't intending to drive at all, and getting off scot free.

It's always better to stop criminals before they actually kill someone.
