What Have You Learned?

Reply Thu 8 Dec, 2011 11:16 am
I have learned what makes me the person I am. Nature, nurture, choices I've made and circumstances that have been thrust upon me. It wasn't that hard to learn, just took an objective look.

Learning to put this knowledge to work in my life to improve myself and conduct myself like a human being as much as possible....not so easy and a lifetime work in progress I suspect.

How about you?

@blueveinedthrobber,
I've learnt that reading BOLD , CAPITAL letters makes me laugh now for some reason

I've learned that you are never too old to learn anything, as long as you "want" to learn.

I've learned that life is like a box of chocolates, there is always one nut .

I've learned that you should always go with your gut feeling and I've learned to take time out, enjoy the sun, surf, nature because it grounds you and gives you time to reflect...

I've learnt a lot more but you know...

I've learned that things go a lot better when I listen carefully to other
people and try to put myself in their shoes. Well, that last is figurative,
of course. I've got really bad feet and other people's shoes would probably
hurt like crazy.

And at this age, I have learned never to pass a urinal or trust a fart.

@George,
I've learnt that George has spent the last week sat on the toilet reading To Kill A Mockingbird.

@George,
It was many years before I discovered the boy that plays with them during the holidays was based on Truman Capote.

Until I remembered the context, this sentence made me giggle.

@George,
I originally wrote, stays with them, then I remembered he stayed with his aunt. I allowed innuendo to creep up on me.

I just learned that there are 4 million workplace injuries reported every year. Better play it safe and call in sick tomorrow, all of you.

I've learned that prolonged participation in political conversations will make even the most intelligent of people look like petulant wieners.

In nearly 73 years of living, I have learned that -- for me, at least -- it's a lot safer to trust my intuition than it is to trust my reasoned judgement.

I have learned that you cannot change people - either you change yourself and accept them, or you leave. Expecting to change them will be an impossible task.

Just weighed myself and checked my bodyfat for the first time in way too long. I'm fat. Not my opinion. My scale said so. Stupid desk job. Time to reverse this trend. Equip jogging shoes. Jogging playlist, activate. Engage weight-loss protocols.

@CalamityJane,
I've learned that people sometimes actually change, but not because of anyone trying to change them. We change because of someone's throwaway line that made us start some thinking, or some gradually crud like accumulation of nuances about stuff we notice, that makes us think we are dead wrong about some opinion we hold or some behavior we act out. It's really a bolt of lightning in lamb's clothing.
