@Sturgis,
SEAWEED

I'd heard of horses having seaweed poultices bandaged onto hot and painful legs, and seaweed wraps in health spas being great for the skin. But I hadn't realised before today just how good seaweed could be for phlebological complaints (varicose veins, poor circulation, heavy legs) - be great if it solves some of your problems. Hey - you might even find you can gallop round the block a few times before breakfast!!!

Cherrie - how are you and how is the family? Haven't heard from you for a while - always good to see your name come up on threads! Very Happy

Glitterbag - any fresh news from the vet on Sophie? Been wondering about that all weekend and hoping it will turn out to be a minor complaint and nothing too serious. I know how you love her.

Foundy - the clocks going forward have really messed up your schedule - plus your flu and all your work commitments - be good to see you posting at normal times again - gets lonesome on the games threads when you're away! Crying or Very sad

Ossobuco - great to see you on First Word - you liven up any thread you post on!

ehBeth - one post isn't enough! Do return soon - your input is much needed Rolling Eyes New faces refresh First Word better than anything else!

@Sturgis,
I spent a long time at the Hospital today with the Liver specialist. I was supposed to have an 11:30 appt but they called and asked if I could come at 1:30 instead. So I arrived at 1:20 and we did not see the specialist until 2:45. The vet spent about about an hour with us, explained all the possibilities (starting with mild disturbance to catastrophic). Sophie was ushered back for an ultra sound, with the possibility of a needle aspiration. After the ultrasound, Dr. Hitt returned and said right now a needle biopsy wasn't needed, so additional blood draws, and urine testing was performed. He's hoping the levels will drop, so we can continue on antibiotics and scheduled blood draws. Her liver is smaller than expected, but not small enough to panic about. There was protein in her urine indicating a kidney problem, the ultrasound showed one kidney with abnormal indicators, but no tumors or malformations.

There is a suspected infection caused by drinking standing water (which we don't have) or contact with wild animal urine or feces and we have a ton of critters that could be the culprit. I'm hoping for a treatable infection but I won't know probably until tomorrow.

Sturgis, I hope the new treatment gives you relief. I love being relieved of pain, it's one of my most favorite feelings.

@glitterbag,
ahhhh

That's horrible just the beginning, knowing you are going in at 11.30 then asked to go later, turn up a tad early and end up waiting over an hour .....

This all sounds good. You may, there could be a nearby small bowl somewhere in the gardens with putrid water in it, Bigsy bless him got ill by drinking from a pond that we forgot about, it could be something so small but there could be a pool even nature has created nearby that she can get to. That would be my bet instead of her drinking a rat or something's urine .. There was a cure for Bigs over that and it worked.

I have a feeling she will be fine x

Yeah Sturgis, much LOVE x

And to all .

I have delayed paperwork to deal with today. I have turned into a procrastinatrix extraordinaire.

Worry

I made it up, that word, thinking of controlling worry time by putting the worrying bits off.
Others of course react to worry bits with the opposite behavior.

@FOUND SOUL,
Just in case you missed this on RexRed's lovely 'Things I like' thread - here's one he posted earlier - heartbreakingly beautiful little film! I've sent it to loads of friends here in England.

ASSOCIATIONS

Hard to think of Dutchy - Danny - The Bosun - The Boss - without at least one reference to Dolly Parton - one of the three ladies in his life (alongside Anna and Foundy).

And here's Dolly with her Eagle song - guess she had Danny in mind when she wrote it! Already posted it on the Yabber-Liner, but I think it belongs here too.

Here's a bit of witchery for you Dutchy!

@FOUND SOUL,

FOREVER

It's Tuesday here and a little damp with on and off rain. Tomorrow it is supposed to be a little colder with snow in the outer areas of the television viewing sector. Possible early flurries here as well before the temps rise somewhat. Will the winter ever end? It is quite annoying and confusing as well since trees have begun budding and flowers as well. At least here in the city it's not expected to drop to the freeze point so damage will be minimal.

Further we've been warned to prepare for a horrendous allergy season as the pollen levels will be higher than normal. Apparently this is the usual after a brutal winter. Can't say as how I recall that from the past.

However I already knew the pollen was going wild since I am a little choked up in the early morning, even with windows closed. The weeping willow tree as well as other trees out back are springing back to life and it won't be too long before I'll notice little white puffs floating through the air, making me wonder if the lint trap on some oversize dryer has broken. It's all good as it signals warmer weather which I sincerely want...and need!

Legs moving along, the right has had a minor inconvenience to it. The sea algae is not working on both the starter wound and on the place where I had a major infection last Octoberish. For that I am being treated once more with the honey and the non stick wrap. My legs are getting confused. However the swelling is noticeably reduced which makes moving around easier.

I take it that you are somewhat better Foundy, that the cold has subsided and you are back to the 18 hour work days. (once more make sure the commission checks are made out and mailed to me...I think you may have forgotten that as I haven't received any. Wink )

So much to say, not completely up to it right now. Suffice to say things are good.

Wait. You found an apple danish? Where? Was this while taking the broom out or putting it away?
Which reminds me, I need to put my broom away or some witch might come by and accidentally leave with it thinking it's their transport and me, being less than fully observant will grab their broom to sweep up and end up being flung around my home.

That'll be it for now, back later...

@Sturgis,
DIFFERENCES

Snow flurries? How long has your winter lasted? We don't have very high temperatures - we rarely do - however, we are experiencing some lovely April sunshine - the UV levels today were so high that we were advised to wear sun screen! Pollen levels are pretty high too - and we've been warned that they're going to be bad this year - my hay fever is already well under way. Our garden is a riot of colour, with lavender and heathers looking beautiful at the front of the house. Bees and butterflies aplenty! I think the weather is trying to make up for the wettest winter ever! Cool

Poor you, such a shame that the sea algae isn't working. Honey now? Not surprised your legs are a bit confused! Very Happy But the fact that you are moving around more is good - hopefully they'll continue to improve.

Don't put your broom away Sturgis - there's a shortage of good besoms - someone's been buying them all up!

BOSS
ALWAYS

I like forever, I can't think of a better word there Sturgis.

I could never live anywhere, where there is snow. I guess that's because I never have and so, my body wouldn't know how to cope with such cold. Pollen is another story, I sneezed my butt of as a kid was really allergic to it, fortunately I got older and so, it's not so bad.

Roll on Spring for you, the best time of the year, seeing the pollen, young leaves, flowers, sun coming through, warming up the crisp mornings, I'm hoping your legs will like the warmth better too.

I'm glad the swelling is going down, though the wrap makes you itchy Sad Wish you didn't have to have it, salt water? Isn't that meant to heal everything? Keep getting better young man.

Shirt, I think the address blew away in the wind, when I was flying around fly-walking one night (new word) darn, what a shame Smile I am feeling better though neither David or I can shake this, it seems to get better then set us back, we are both still coughing, can't be a cold then must have been the flu, talk about bed hair sometimes, as I sweat at night, from this thing... But, 18hrs were reduced somewhat to 12 Smile

Reminds me, my friggen outgoing email supplier I think has gone out of business, I can send but can't receive.. I've had to open a new one which is the same beginning but instead of @ e-access.com it is now @outlook.com got it Sturg? Von? Wink

Imagine ...... If I have to write to 70 landlords and 70 tenants to give the new one, here is hoping not.

Change of plans on the Apple Danish, Dannyboy doesn't feel like eating more than his breakfast at present. At least I delivered two, plus garlic prawns and the cheek of him, a fillet steak, this past month...

Still wish you lived closer Sturgis so I could do the same for you.

I sure would get confused over your broom, it's so friggen old, I would think that it could easily fly. It's time to upgrade it to a new one !!

Tough day today, one tough day....

Catch ya all later. No I said catch ya, not be back.

@FOUND SOUL,
“He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than he found it,
Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction.”
