@FOUND SOUL,
Just dropped in - spent another half hour trawling through the forums, groups, topics, posts - oh, everything imaginable, and STILL cannot find out how to send a personal message! It's not even a question of wanting to - it's simply that I'm getting very frustrated with my own inability to do what must surely be a very simple action! HELP!!! Evil or Very Mad Embarrassed Rolling Eyes

At least I now know how to put on a profile or an avatar, to go to various forums, to find 'help' (on almost everything except how to send a personal message!), but I refuse to be beaten. Mad Mad Mad What am I missing - apart from some brain cells? Rolling Eyes

@vonny,
SMILE Wink

Just sent you a PM ..... Smile

Mr Dutchy was in and out of a coma for around 6 weeks, mainly in so that he wouldn't stress and wonder what was happening whilst they got him top shape, it most definately would have been a shock... He would not have expected that, even though I told him close to my birthday Wink He surely is loved here, but I see that so much and it's really nice to see, from others giving love to others and meaning it. He'll have to hitch a ride on my broomstick though I suspect he will travel to see his son in the near future Wink

I think that vets have a tough job. Not only do they get to know our animals that need attention throughout their lives, but those that need money spent on them, only a few of us will do that. Not because we have money but love. They would have to be let down so many times with the owners opting to put them down, instead of caring for them right til the end, no matter what... I guess that is why they ask the question.

Little Missy, left some fur a month later around the door step where I sit in the morning and afternoon, and evening, well I have a bad habit, called smoking Wink There is a bird across the water where the ducks are, that makes a simular noice to what Missy did, if she was stuck in the gardens and would cry out for me to get her... Often we used to run out and she was fine, it was the bird lols. That dang bird ... will forever make me hear missy. Strange hey... But honestly, I know it was her time. Walking into things, needing a hand to drink sometimes, not being able to play, not much of a life, but she refused to go Wink Bless.

Haha.. Us tall women huh, it is fun... It's even better given D is taller than me, when I put heels on and tower over him Wink

Ok, ok, i'll shhhhh over the garden, weather, sun, I mean I'll shhh Wink

-3 no way... I'm never visiting Smile

@FOUND SOUL,
SNOW

Just had quite a heavy snowfall. Very scenic - but I wish it would go away. It is supposed to be spring - huh!!! Crying or Very sad

Thank you for all your efforts in teaching me how to reply to a PM. Seeing I didn't know what a PM was until a day or two ago, I think I've done very well in learning how to do so - but they say pride comes before a fall, so I had better shut up before my laptop explodes or something drastic - my wayward cursor is still whizzing round my screen at an alarming rate, so nothing would surprise me Surprised

Thank you also for your e-mail address - it's enabled me to send you a photograph of my beloved Harvey - something I've wanted to do for a while now. One day I'll get time to investigate Photobucket properly, and manage to put some photos on there for posting on First Word, but hopefully you will get an idea of what he looked like from this one (sent from my Blackberry, so not the best quality perhaps). Embarrassed

I was very sorry to hear Dutchy's having trouble walking - his poor feet - how sad that they are ulcerated, and his muscles weak. But he has masses of willpower and I'm sure it won't be too long after your birthday that he's able to walk unaided again. Meantime - hitching a lift on your broomstick sounds a good option. Very Happy

Vets do have a hard job. But they are oh so expensive in this country. Even with insurances taken out on dogs, the costs are often prohibitive. Even a simple consultation for a check-up costs an arm and a leg over here. Is it the same in Australia? For years it was the only profession I wanted to follow - until the day I realised that a large part of being a vet was having to put animals to sleep. That was the end of my ambitions. I know somebody has to do it, but it was something I just couldn't face. Not an easy job at all.

So sad to find something tangible that was part of one's pet - a collar, hair, their favourite toy or a bowl. Or hear a sound - like you heard the bird call that sounded like a Missy noise - that makes one forget, just for a moment, that they are gone. I keep thinking that today, perhaps, the pain won't be quite so bad, but inevitably there is some little reminder - yes, it still hurts. Crying or Very sad

Must go and do a snow check - oh how I hope it won't lie - that it will melt or just blow away - don't want to be housebound tomorrow!

@vonny,
That's the thing, shovelling snow every day? No way!!!!! Smile

You're welcome Vonny... Like I said, I couldn't put a photo up on here until I was helped.. Photobucket is easy, if you can do this you can do that Smile

Have to wait until I get to the shop to see your beautiful picture of Harvey, I can read and reply to emails here until the new server starts but can't view any attachemenat Sad Can't wait... You will have to send one of Megan as well please Smile

Danny, danny, danny, ........ All he wanted was to have the operation and after a couple of weeks walk out a better man, only he is so impatient Wink He will walk out a better man but yes, like I told him around my birthday, just before, or after, I am thinking still, just before. I will see what I can do re the internet problem with Anna.....

I also wanted to be a Vet:) Same reason I didn't and a Police-woman, Private Investigator... Did the later a little, managed one for 4 years.

Vonny off course it hurts... But, for me, I believe that there are souls off course, hense name... So, I believe that she gives me little signs to let me know she is around lordy, no one believes in ghosts but if you've seen what I've seen in my life, well..................

Anyways, just know he is still hanging around... But, also with others that he knew as pets as well, roaming around, running, and having fun only to be by Mum's side, in sleep.... There will be something, if you look hard enough ......

Smile.

Proud of ya, go Vonny............Spirit, refusal of letter something beat her Smile

@FOUND SOUL,
THAW

The snow was gone when we woke this morning - hurrah! Even had some sunshine today - but a wet and windy weekend is forecast, with more snow Rolling Eyes to come by the middle of next week. (Sigh Exclamation ) The good thing about having such awful weather is that one really does appreciate good weather when it's here!!! Cool

I don't have many photos on my laptop - must put some on, then I can send one of Megan. I'll get round to Photobucket eventually - still overawed by my success at replying to a PM, and learning about emoticons and how to put them on manually Surprised My thanks to you for that!

Poor Danny. Awful having to learn to walk again. Not as easy as it sounds. After my accident, I spent a long time encased in plaster from hip to ankle, and at the end of it, found myself unable to walk. Physiotherapy loosened up my muscles and built them up again, but the physical act of walking was beyond me at first. Two aides supported me as I attempted to walk - but I simply didn't know how to! Sounds crazy, but walking is something one learns as a tot, and forgets the 'how' once walking becomes automatic. Try to describe the act of walking to a creature from another planet! What exactly does one do? Put down the toe first, or the heel, then raise the leg or the foot - almost impossible to describe that simple action one always took for granted. And when the legs are weak from weeks or months of inactivity - !!! Confused But Danny is a strong man with a lot of determination. I'm sure he'll soon master the act of walking again, and his legs will get stronger day by day. It can't be helped by the ulcers on his poor feet! Great if you can help get the internet problem sorted! Smile

Private Investigator - sounds fun! I bet you have a fund of fascinating stories to tell about that period of your life! Laughing

Harvey was such a big personality, and had so much love, that I feel him everywhere - the house still echoes with his presence.

Have a lovely weekend.

Maybe, sort off, well phones and emails Sad

It's fantastic learning, ya never too old... You'll be a wizz at all of it, as you are now Wink

Not expected, he will certainly feel down given he expected to have a spring in his step, but he will, what can you do about time?

It must have been horribly frustrating for you Vonny as well as disapointing but there are worse things as we know.. We deal with the things we have and feel grateful as well.

How are you feeling about the small operation that you are going to be OK about? Looking forward to seeing Harvey and Megan..

Just sorry I can't access attachement yet from home, Tuesday or Wednesday I hope.

Have family birthdays on Sunday, my Mother and Brother were born on the same day.... I was rebelious off course, 4th June for my father and 19th for me lols.

Only working tomorrow so I will have a great weekend, thank you.

You too. I get the weather bit... Same when it's so hot here, then like this morning, I'm cold because the weather has changed lols.

@FOUND SOUL,
LEARNING

I'm learning lots since I found A2K. You said there was a lot of help out there, and you were so right. You, yourself, taught me how to access PM's, how to reply to them, how to put emoticons on them, and about the existence of Photobucket (which I will get to eventually), and today Roger taught me how to turn a link I'd posted on the animal thread into an actual picture. A simple enough procedure , but I'd never have know how if he hadn't told me just what to do! Smile

It was just over three years ago when I first acquired a computer and taught myself how to use it from books. At first I did little but reply to e-mails and put photos onto it, music etc, but in March 2011 I began to use it to help me with crosswords - Lovatt's BIG and Colossus mainly. That's how I became acquainted with Dutchy! In December last year (I think it was) or January this year, I found my way to First Word and the Yabber-Liner - so glad I did! On a steep learning curve and loving (almost) every minute of it! Cool

I do wish Dutchy was back - he is such a huge personality that his absence is even more noticeable. I wonder if he realises just how much people care about him - and how manypeople! I hope that knowledge will help him cope with the long days of convalescence - not the easiest time after big operations. So awful to have gone in for a couple of weeks, and for those weeks to have extended into a marathon session of highs and lows. But he's a survivor - the eagle avatar suits him well I think. Razz

I'm waiting for a firm date for my operation - we think April now. I chose a hospital near to my home because of Megan - my husband needs to be able to get back to her easily to walk and tend to her if I am there for any length of time - so I have to wait a bit longer than if I'd chosen the hospital where the plastic surgeons are located. But I've now seen a copy of the surgeon's letter to my doctor, and he says he will operate by end April. So unless there are some unexpected snags, it should all be over by May at the latest. Here's hoping! Rolling Eyes

Have a lovely weekend. Hope you get some rest and relaxation. Enjoy Laughing

WORK

Alas, tomorrow off, this is good, I actually am starting to smell the roses but now can't wait for today to be over Sad

That's great Vonny, and I have no idea how to turn a link into a picture so I will have to mozzzzzzy on over to that thread maybe tonight and have a look we are never too old to learn Wink

Mr Dutchy will insist and insist until he has a computer on his lap and he will be here shortly, I just know him Smile I should send him a PM he'd be expecting it lols. Thinking of him heeps at the moment, as I can only imagine his weakness, loss of weight and feeling down... Though I bet he is still smiling at the Nurses.

COFFEE

You will be fine.. All your plans are perfect and Megan will be fine.

End of April is still 6 weeks away, so enjoy all your new learnings and have fun, you'll only be gone for a wee bit Wink Plus, think of the positive that it's gone and that a plastic surgeon will make it look the same again over a short period of time.. There is always a positive in a negative always ....

(hugs)

Must eat, shower, get dressed and vamooooooose

Have a great night, go to bed, I reckon it's around 11 now?

@FOUND SOUL,
ASSISTANCE

Great that people help one another on A2K - I was able to post a picture on Yabber-Liner for Dutchy - easy now I know how!!! Rolling Eyes So kind of Roger to go to the trouble of explaining it to me. Cool

I can't wait to hear that Dutchy has been on his computer - using his jewelled mouse - and back in touch with all the people who have been so concerned about him for quite a while now. And yes - he probably is smiling at the nurses - and flirting shamelessly! Laughing Be good to see him back on all the usual threads.

I hope my op is before end April - and that I don't turn into a total cowardly wreck when I get the appointment. Why am I so worried - had loads of operations before - four years of them on my leg? I guess it's cos the scars will be visible! Ugh - vanity, vanity - guess the main thing is just to get rid of the cancer, so I shouldn't even care about scarring (but I do!!!)

What is your weather like? Saw Melbourne on tv news today - torrential rain by all accounts. Somehow one imagines sunshine year round over there! Wet and windy here, but no snow thank goodness.

Have a good weekend.

CLEVER !

Good on you, that's the links next the photos Wink

He's such a cheeky lad, he'll have you in stiches when he is properly back on board but at least he won't be bored, now, he can read and read and laugh and smile and hi Dutchy how ya going today? See ya soon x

Vanity bahaha.. Off course that was the reason, duh... Got to admit with my work I would be a tad that way but sheez, you can purchase those band aid thingys Vonny and stick it across your nose it's a simular colour Wink

It's fine here, we don't get Melbourne or Queensland weather when it's stormy, we get "a little " of it, but not excessive like them. It is cool in the mornings gets better during the day but it's like imagine going from really hot to then cold to then hot, to then cold. That's basically what it's like here.... can do some gardening today, maybe..

Have a great Sat night? And Sunday.. I'm going to enjoy today, that's it, today as tomorrow for me is Monday, like that song, bloody monday Wink

@FOUND SOUL,
MORE ......

Still need to know lots - like how to post a video clip and not just the link! I'm hoping to find out soon. Don't know about you, but I get really irritated if I'm unable to do something. I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and having spent a lifetime 'devouring' books, I now find an endless source of information about everything on the internet, and am gobbling it up as fast as I can. So much to learn .... Rolling Eyes Very much regret the fact that I came to computers so late - still, better late than never Exclamation

Great that Dutchy has his internet connection and can start putting the world to rights - and answering questions on the crossword puzzling threads. Be a lot of partying on the Yabber-Liner when he's back at the helm.

Gee thanks - a band aid across my nose - lovely!!! I can think of more elegant fashion statements! You did make me laugh when I read it though - can just imagine myself matching a sticking plaster to my outfit - mmmm what shall I wear, floral or stripes? Must ask at the children's department of the hospital - I know they do eye patches with zodiac symbols on them! Laughing

Where has Sturgis gone to? I haven't seen anything of him since the 26th or 28th February on any thread - hope he's okay. Confused

Gardening - sigh................. still have our containers covered in fleeces - why, oh why, did I plant so many containers up? There are loads of them to attend to once the weather gets warmer. Ah well - will have to see what survived the frosts and snows of winter - and the rains of spring, if it carries on like this for much longer. Crying or Very sad

Just breezed past the beautiful animal thread, gonna join in with that as soon as I am off laptop. There is a site that comes up on my facebook with the most amazing animals, I've never ever seen before, would like to share..

As for video linking? AHHHHHH dunno.. Roger does though he helped me once as well, what a guy. Along with Osso and alot of others with various questions along the way.

Sending Hugs to Dutchy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA well I speak before I think sometimes, stripes go with stripes lols.

@FOUND SOUL,
NEWS

My operation is going to be either the 11th or 18th of April. Big sigh of relief here - was concerned that it might be delayed even longer, but early April will be fine. Gives me time to get totally used to it, but not too long for the BCC to grow too much more. The sooner it's done the better! Cool

There are some beautiful animals on - guess what - the Beautiful Animals thread! Laughing Look forward to seeing the ones you're going to post from Facebook. Facebook is still a mystery to me. Loads of my friends are on it and use it to communicate big time - but I've always worried about privacy issues. They say easy - just tick boxes to ensure privacy - we'll see, not sure if I have time now I'm on A2K!!! Razz Laughing Very Happy

Ditto hugs to Dutchy - oh I do so hope he will soon be well. Another op? Hope he breezes through this one - he's spent long enough in operating theatres and recovery wards.

Bought more books today - some on Saturday too - so have a nice pile waiting for me. Also a friend lent me some - now all I have to do is find time to read them all! Confused

Hope you had a nice time with your rapidly ageing 'daughter' - rather you than me. Teens are as much a mystery to me as toddlers - know nothing of them at all. Rolling Eyes

PLEAESD

Or was that PLEASED?

That, you are pleased that it is earlier than later.. Now remember, tis no big deal Vonny, simple, quick and a bandaid after Wink And, then bam....it be gone ..

My Mother bless her, just had a "witch" wart burnt off. I had to ask her about it all, cause I'm a witch and all, naturally it's my turn soon... And my first little one is in the middle of my head up the top, scratched the out of it, it just looks like a nice horrible, little skin coloured lump that is small now... bandaid? Smile

Facebook...................................Privacy................................get someone to help you when you are ready... Your "friends" that you well, be-friend and their friends only will see what you post and you will see your friends posts and their replys, lordy some things I laugh out loud reading or sharing . And, for me, to keep in touch with my daughters and son, is important and watch my niece and nephews grow, see that my favourite Aunt is ok and still happy and join in on other things offered to me from some guys from here...and alot of overseas friends I've developed over the years... 15 minutes and you are done, reading, sharing, writing something Smile

I did try to call Anna last night but didn't get hold of her, so I shall try again shortly... I suspect he's already having those little nastys taken off.... I'll take him some bandaids Wink Sorry Dutchy, you know me, I have a warped sense of humor Smile

That's an aweful lot of books to read, whilst you are distracted by A2K haha. But, I guesso over, time you shall succcceed!!! Just like you have with putting photos up here Wink

She's a terror really Wink Made her white egg and mushroom omlette for breakfast.. Would have loved to have thrown a yolk in it, but ya know... She wouldn't eat it then, lean and all Smile

@FOUND SOUL,
See - done it again! Posted something all on its little ownsome! (loud scream...... Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad But I shall persist! I was just about to say that I need a new laptop - can't afford one at the present time, but oh how happy I will be when I can dump this one and get one that WORKS!!!

You should let your picky teen make her own breakfast - or do you like doing things for her! I must admit, at fourteen I had no idea how to even make breakfast! Even when I first left home for London, I had no idea how to make anything except scrambled eggs on toast - and that was something I'd picked up in Girl Guides! Shocked

Bandaid sounds better than sticking plaster - but I know what you mean! I wish!!! Surgeon said skin graft after op and drew a diagram of my nose and the v shaped flap of skin he intends to cut from my cheek to draw across and graft onto it - yikes!!! No, I guess the Phantom of the Opera mask will be the best bet after the op - more dramatic too - and I've always been a bit of a drama queen! Cool Let's face it - it's taken me a fortnight to plan the outfit I'm going to wear to hospital for the big day - okay, as a friend pointed out, I'll be stripped and gowned for the procedure - but, hey, don't spoil my grand entrance!!! Laughing

Facebook is something I shall most definitely join at some future date. Asking my 'friends' is useless - they are all whizzy whizzy floaty in the sky people and trying to pin them down for anything as mundane as simple instructions is pointless - except on dog related issues, when they come down to earth with a bump! No, I'll continue to pick the brains of yourself and other A2Kers - a lot more simple like that.

Hurrah for Danny and him NOT having to undergo further surgery for the problem with his feet. Thank goodness for that. Such a relief to hear Give him a big hug from me and say I'm glad he's okay.

Going to throw this laptop out of the window now ....... well, maybe not yet....... but it's been warned!

Have a good day - I guess it's tomorrow morning where you are - weird!!! Rolling Eyes

I ask her. She says, whatever.. Which means, yes please Wink She used to feel really flat at school and oh so hungry her stomach would make noises before resess, I made her eat eggs and that solved that problem. Problem now is, she won't eat yolk, cause it's fattening, try explaining it's good fat.. Pftttttttttttttttttttt. Yes, I like doing it for her as I only have her twice a week and well, she is a good kid, extremely talented can draw wicked stuff and very smart. She advises us on stuff and we are like ? I advise her on Motherly things and she listens. Told her to drink more water and she went and got that glass.. Like I said Smile

HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, you make me laugh.. Prepping for what to wear to hospital Wink Go Vonny. They make it sound worse than it is, remember that. Wink You will be fine and LOOK FINE well sort off, a little while after Wink

Yes, yes, yes, you will find it funny, interesting and be able to get to see what all your friends are up to.... You've learn't alot and so, you will learn how to do it, with Privacy just don't ask me please Wink
