Well, I think that wandeljw has pretty well given the definitive answer. It would be remiss of me, however, not to point out that Popeye the Sailorman also invoked the Cartesian ethic when he said, "I am what eye yam and thass all eye yam." Now whther or not Wittgenstein was a direct (or even marginal) influence on this line of reasoning is hardly germane to the over-all discussion.
