What does the number on the back of the plates mean ?
I have one with the number 8 stamped on the back near the factory print.
And I also have others with numbers like : 41 , 58, 96 ...
The plates are supposevely made in the Wilhelmsburg (Austria) and Holohaza (Hungary) Factories.

Thankyou !

@verarenczi,
Most of the numbers on commercial plates are design numbers so that when items were ordered via catalog, the number and the dish name were all that were needed to purchase replacements.

Had it been a high end piece of ceramics or studio production piexce. There would be a model number, as ground number, a glaze number, and maybe even the potter and designers signatures. ALL that plus the name of the production company.
