@engineer,
It's hard to get a word in edgewise when someone dumps 20+ post in a row. It's not as if it adds to the conversation, it was all cut a paste articles. There is no room for discussion.
Look as I've said.. They already have a couple of threads, they could make more for all I care. I don't have to read them, that is my choice. I'm not affecting your choice by not reading these threads.
I used to belong to abuzz. When I first started the site was moderated and I liked going there. Funding was cut as were the mods and the site went downhill fast Irrelevant posts would go on for ever and any meaningful posts were often lost in muck.
How many times have you watched a newbie come to this site and get jumped on because they are suspected of being a spammer? In many cases it's warranted. Sometimes, it's just a lack of writing skills, whatever. Most of the time, their posts and threads are deleted for your convenience. This place would be a very different place if that sort of thing wasn't moderated out.
What I'm saying is, I shouldn't be able to go onto someone else's thread and flood it with pages of cut and paste, or completely dominate a thread with a sales pitch, regardless of what I'm selling.
I'm not sure what truly believing in something has to do with letting someone run rampant on other peoples threads. What's to stop me or anyone from filling pages with garbage just to prove a point?
If this person filled page after page with information from the koran or the watchtower would you still be as forgiving?
So again, aside from being a member in good standing... and not a newbie, can anyone can post like this, or is it only the freaks we play lip service to? Those with a disparaging view..
Because for the life of me, I don't understand why this gets a pass and others get the boot.
I'm not talking about banning or wiping the slate clean, necessarily, but maybe software could be written that would prevent it from happening in the first place. At last count, the tally on that thread was at 23 posts and obviously growing. If I'm new to this site and I don't know all the bells and whistles, that's a lot of posts to wade through before you get back to the topic on hand. How many people do you suppose would do that?
