Okay, I'm certain some people are going to find this question offensive.
But I'm a screenwriter, and I have a ghost attempting to convince a human to kill herself.
Tell me what would be your argument for suicide.
And you can have fun with this because you can make up back story for the character because this ghosts has the power to beguile: change the facts and make the character believe a new back story to her life.
So you can give me situations: because she did this and this and this, she should kill herself.
Or because this is going to happen.
Or just generic reasons to die something the ghost discovered about the universe in general during his period of ghosthood.

@Muarck,
Well, the ghost could convince her that she's so miserable and weak that she is totally unfit for life, that everybody hates her just like she hates herself and doesn't have the guts to even try to help herself, and is so full of fear she can't walk outside her door.

So, what is it, suicide or living with a ghost?

@Pemerson,
There you go. Living with a ghost could do it for lots of people.

The ghost convinces the girl she is isolated and without love. It uses incidents and circumstances in her life, which you the author would need to invent in order to claim originality.

@Muarck,
Star Trek had a good angle on this. I think it was Tasha Yar who died in one (benign) time line, but was advised by the psychic Guinan in another (disasterous) time line that she "should not really be there." Tasha Yar then volunteers for certain death in an attempt to eliminate the pernicious timeline she is involved in.

The implication is for your suicide to attempt to prevent evil fortold as a consequence of their own survival.

NB.Hermann Hesse also had a good line on "triumphal suicide". Read "The Prodigy" for example.

@Muarck,
The ghost could tell her that she's a screenwriter who has completely lost the plot.

@Muarck,
The ghost originally un-known by her, speaks to her when she is asleep. She doesn't know why she feels suicidal, but she doesn't feel she should contemplate it. Something niggles at her, a powerful feeling of love and a powerful feeling of evil....She always wakes and swears she sees a face, one she doesn't know, one she is not sure about. During the day she feels the ghost around her, talking to her, she's frightened yet again feels this power of love....Strange things happen, things appear that aren't in her house, hints of her past life, things disappear as well....

She wakes up one morning and the ghost changes its face to that of her first boyfriend, who died some 10 years before... His form charismic, he shows her, pets that she loved that have passed as well, running around his feet. Projects colours that are beautiful as she gazes, she feels at peace, home and again with the love of her life and those she'd never forgotten, as her pets.

She now feels that the evil was not there, it was fear and the voices and things appearing are from him, it's him he wants to take her home, she's elated, realises and is about to follow him, listens to him...starts to swallow the pills Then an evil face appears,just briefly and laughs...

Is it too late? Will she take that final breathe or escape
