My computer has a huge screen so this does not bother me. One thing you might try is changing the zoom setting on your browser, this might make it look better to you.
I have given Robert a lot of complaint over the years but I really like how well A2K looks and works on my Android, computers are on the way out and hand helds are the wave of the future, it may well be that Robert and his helpers chose to not optimize a2K for the computer screen so that they could make it look better on phones.
