that this year is a special birthday for our Osso (I think Razz) - and tho she doesn't usually like to have a big song and dance for herself about such special days, once in blue moon, it's good to sing out loud Wink

@Izzie,
I'm glad I didn't miss this birthday!

I brought a bottle of George Dickel whiskey:

A gallon of the freshest chocolate milk:

So let's drink to a healthy and prosperous year for our friend Ossobuco! [hugs emoticon here]

Happy birthday!!!

@tsarstepan,
Oh... I rented out the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum and courtyard for any party overflow if too many guests arrive to the party....

Dickel is a "whisky."

Yes, this is an important distinction. Why, I'm not sure.

Izzie, you have outdone yourself, such stimulating birthday items! Especially the tomato chestnut cake. I've only tasted chestnut cake once (my italian teacher was a mad baker). Hmmm. I bet chestnut flour is relatively good for you.

Tsar, you bad boy, I'd never adulterate George Dickel with chocolate milk! That mode is just for the cheapo stuff. Rawther early here for a sip - I'll wait myself until the 8 pm NFL games tonight (6 pm hereabout). Meantime I'll have my chocolate milk 2 cents plain..

That museum's so beautiful. Love it. I've not been there but it would be an obvious choice for me to visit if I ever get to Boston again. That and the Diller Scofidio one (forget that musuem's name, something like ICA).

Thank you for the flying piggy, Tico.

Letty's Birthday tomorrow - will start a thread later today. If I forget while being sloshed on George Dickel in the moonlight, someone else start it, eh?

Egads, I'm not in my sixties anymore. Weird, I tell you.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Laughs! I've cooked osso buco a number of times, all great except for the last time. It was here in Albuquerque and I think it was just after I first moved here. Major guest - BBB. I way overcooked it, being confused in general and by cooking temps here at altitude. Anyway, the gravy was good, the meat inedible.

Time for me to try making it again, huh.

@ossobuco,
Hah - that wasn't a tomato chestnut cake (it didn't look like it) : italian tomato was the name of the restaurant.

Here's a typical italian chestnut cake recipe (didn't find a recipe for such a fancy cake as in Izzie's pic), but in this case it's from Slovenia:

Sadly, there's a salmonella problem with turkish pine nuts this week.

Looks like a pretty healthy cake, and gluten free for those that matters for.

We've asked St. Joseph on the Rio Grande to do some special birthday bell ringing.

If it was too early for you - here's a bonus 'concert':

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Of course from Ulla as well!)

@Walter Hinteler,
That's very cool, Walter - I favorited it. Looks like the chiesa S. Andrea is in Bergamo - alas, I've not been there. But, I think that's where a2k's Pantalones went to school for a semester or two.

Hugs to you and Ulla. I'm so glad I got to spend time with her - those were important days on your last visit.
