Thank you. You got pictures of movies stars on cards in packages of "Mother's Cookies". Cool. Very Happy I got to know lots of the oldies like Buck Jones and Frances Farmer, etc. from a deck of cards my Mom bought me.

Another prized possession is the button I recieved for going to the kiddie matinee on Saturdays. They handed them out with all the cowboy stars on them. The one that survived with me is John Wayne.

Found that handsome Tony: Always claimed that Craven looked like Valentino.

I had the biggest crush on that guy when I was a kid. Strange. Now there's not one man in the movies that even appeals to me, except maybe Johnny Depp... Razz

Well, I guess I ought to get off this machine.

edgar, I wish I had all the momentoes that I had as a kid. Comic books for one.

Very Happy Put that in a safe place, Edgar. I regret that my Mom got rid of the programs I had of Gene Autry and Champion, and Tom Mix and Tony when they appeared in PA. (They were no longer making movies at that time.)

Oh, Letty, I found the puzzle, and speaking of comic books - Mom threw away all my prized comic books because she said they were mildewed. Crying or Very sad I had a crush on Anthony Dexter, too. (lol)

I once ran into Anthony Dexter outside a ticket booth at the Coloseum (I think it was a USC/UCLA game or maybe even the Rams).

I swear, Mr. Wizard. Is there anything that you DON'T do, or anyone that you haven't met? The man is a dead ringer for Valentino, isn't he.

All this time I thought that Valentino died of a ruptured appendix. That's hollywood for ya. If those early stars had a pain, it was the appendix.

I lived in the Hollywood Hills during most of the late 50's and early 60's right over the Chateau Marmont on Hollywood Blvd. It wasn't difficult since I socialized a lot to meet a lot of Hollywood people but actually I haven't named but a few and demure to do so because I could it be construed as trivial name dropping ("Drop That Name" from "Bells Are Ringing.") I remembered him distinctly because he was really a white guy but was as red as a beet. I don't know if he was high, embarassed or sunburnt. I just asked for an autograph.

I sat in the same theater a few rows behind Percy Helton one time.

Oh, my Gawd -- the conductor in the opening scenes on the train from "The Music Man" Percy Helton? A great supporting character actor. Now tell me you have an inside out popcorn box with an autograph. I never knew what happened to my Dexter autograph 'cause I think I had him sign my ticket stub and have since lost it.

I didn't bother Percy. I have enjoyed his acting ever since the time I saw him in a B film called The (pick one: Naughty, bad, other) Lady. In it he blackmails a shapely blonde into having an affair.

This was a buzy actor:

His TV appearances were legion. Talk about becoming a familiar face who's name most people can't remember.

That and "Criss Cross" must have been the two biggest parts he had in films. He was always working clear through all his appearances on TV but was rarely even a co-star. Too bad they don't have a pic on IMDb. I am trying to remember his face but can't. I guess I could play the first few minutes of "The Music Man" because I did remember the conductor.

Allright -- you came through! I should have had that distinctive face in my mind and remember him best in his early comic relief bumbling cowboy parts. His appearance in "The Music Man" as the conductor is uncredited as well as many other basically walk-ons.

The character actors have always been my favorites in so many ways. They are all unique and are often more talented than the big names they back up.
