Cabin fan continues to blow with ignition off . Will stop only when control ( vent, a/c, heater, etc) is turn to off position. Also dome light stays on. Tried wd 40 on door latches. When opening any of the four doors or turning the dome light switch on, the light gets brighter. Both problems started today. Are these problems related or coincidental? Could the time on the light be bad? Ron

@rjr1414,
I'm assuming this is a car. Er, make and model might help our automotive wizards. Thanks.

@rjr1414,
YEP, a sad but true condition unique to the Heavies, from 250 up. This is a diesel?? yes??

If so, the diesel has an interlock somehwere that lets **** like this happen until you take the fuses out and screw with em by rubbing the contacts on sand paper (Real fine grit like 400 or 600) then stick em back in and it usually works for me. If not, you got a short somewhere.

Be thankful you dont have the automatic door locking package which automatically locks the doors while the fuckin thing is running. Its like the HAL 3000 "Im sorry, I cant let you in Dave".

The auto door lock package was in several hundred of 1999-2003 350 D versions with the XLT pqackge of bullwshit fetures.

That one required the fuses to be fully removed whjile travelling but the door fuses also operated some other stuff like the radio (I believe it was the radio)

@farmerman,
Yes this is a diesel. 7.3 powerstroke. Which fuses are you referring to, The fuses in the cabin fuse panel or the fuse panel under the hood? Ron

@rjr1414,
cabin.
99 7.3 till 2003 7.3 are still the best diesel engine made (except for the tril versions of the CAterpillars they tried for 450's and up).
I still have a 99 .7.3 and its running like a champ, but it has the door lock package.

Do you have bigger wheels? the 350 of that year had 27 as the biggest and they lookd really tiny so I refit ours with a 20" wheels and oversize tires. I forgot the wheel and tire pattern. (Im not at home now so I cant go out and check).

Youll get really good diesel mileage on this.

OH YEH!! There were severl service recalls on these things . Check yours for service recalls and whether they were followed up on. I believe that several of them were electrical crap. SO you might have this done free if you chase it to a garage. Theres a little timer bar that shuts the dome lights off when you get out and shut it off. Maybe this thing isnt powering down also.

Problem was in the ignition switch. Blowed out with air, sprayed wd 40 on the key , worked it in and out, no more lights or fan staying on.
Thanks to all, Ron
