@hamilton,
Whoa! Well, I only put my first and middle name here. No ones knows where I live exactly or anything. Is that still too much Hamilton? How could ya get kidnapped over the Internet? I don't get it.

@GracieGirl,
Best not to be putting your names out there as advised before, just really for your own security - no no, don't be worrying about kidnapping etc. If you contact the mods at the "contact us" below at the bottom of the page, they may be able to remove/edit the post. You will have to give them the post number or copy the link from the browser bar. Just be a little careful who you give ANY personal or identifying information to. OK Very Happy Don't fret. All's OK!

ps Please also DON'T ever tell anyone your address or phone numbers, not in PM or email etc nor arrange to meet folk you don't know.

@GracieGirl,
well, i am glad you learned this lesson! Smile
advertising your age is just the sort of thing that predators are looking for, especially at such an impressionable age of 13!

@hamilton,
But why do predators care about my age? They can't do anything to me over the Internet right? And besides, my dads a prosecutor, that's a lawyer that sends people to court and tries to put them in jail. My dad can do that to predators over the internet too right? Are there predators on able2know.com? Who are they and what do they do exactly? Do you mean stalkers or sex offenders and stuff?

@GracieGirl,
Huh? You mean you've never seen the show "To catch a predator"?
That sounds a little too naive to some.

Just keep your internet life separate from your physical life, there is no reason whatsoever to give out your personal details.
The decent people around the internet don't need them, they care only about your intellect.

The fact is, there are predators on the internet, as far as a2k goes, how would any of us know that?
They don't just come out and say "here I am" now do they?

@wayne,
Nope! I don't watch 'to catch a predator'. Ha! I guess I should now.
But Im not naive, I was freaked. And you should be able to tell if someone's a 'predator' or not. Wouldn't they be weird or even a little gross. I mean, why would they be scared over the Internet? They can say or do whatever they want right? Anyway, I guess I'll stop saying my name and how old I am and everything here. I'll be safe. I'll ask 'moderators to edit out my first name out of some questions and stuff and see if I can fix some stuff on my own. Thanks! Smile Wink

I'm a baby boomer.

Which makes me positively ancient to a 13 year old!

But heck, it's been a bloody great ride! Very Happy
Wouldn't swap it for quids!

@GracieGirl,
I don't think there's anything to be freaked about. However, I was a little alarmed at how you blurted your first name to Hamilton so readily.
In and of itself, that's not a problem but information does add up over time.
I think that's the concern voiced by some other members, that you'll let slip a little too much info.

As far predators go, yeah I would think they'd act a bit creepy.
When I was in my teens, I remember a few instances of creepy dudes trying to pick me up (or whatever), but I wasn't susceptible to that sort of attention, so yeah, my instincts always did me right.
Just keep your wits about ya and you'll do fine.

Edit; Oh by the by, I'm 50 and the creepy dudes pretty much leave me alone now. Smile

@wayne,
Yeah that was stupid but Hamilton said he knew me so I wanted to know how. I wasn't gonna tell him anything else but I guess I still shouldn't have said that.

And LoL at the last part! HaHa! Very Happy
