Codswallop the pop

Smash it to free it.
When I was a kid some marbles were plain glass spheres, they were from bottles of lemonade around during WW2, and kids would smash the bottles to get the marbles out.
Wallop was a slang term for beer, Cod was the manufacturer of a type of lemonade, hence the term codswallop being nonsense, not real beer.
Having said that the origin of codswallop is in dispute.
