@edgarblythe,
You have to deal in facts, Ed, not USA propaganda. They, the Taliban, were negotiating to do exactly that, hand OBL over. As is usual, the USA wouldn't hear of it 'cause the USA doesn't do diplomacy. The USA had long before decided to invade because the Taliban wouldn't do the usa's bidding.

That too is a common USA feature.

See,

Taliban in Texas for pipeline talks.

Case closed. End of hijacking this thread.

I'm always surprised, nay shocked at how quickly adult Americans can change to juveniles just because they hear something that doesn't fit their viewpoint.

You have been "high jacking" this thread as much as me, Ed. Don't you think the truth has infinitely more value than a silly A2K thread?

The real USA and Afghanistan.

America’s Nation-Destroying Mission in Afghanistan
by James Lucas, March 06, 2010

Interference by the U.S. in the internal affairs of Afghanistan has been a tragic chapter in our nation’s history.

Over three decades ago, there were social movements in Afghanistan to improve the standard of living of its people, to provide greater equality for women, and there was a functioning, if imperfect, democracy. However the U.S., using subversion, weapons, and money was able, as the leader of coalition of nations, to stop progress in these areas of human welfare.

In fact, the gains that had already been made were actually reversed. By 2010 the economic and social status of Afghans has been set back generations; women’s status has deteriorated to such an extent that the prevalence of self-immolation has increased among discouraged women, and there is no democracy now, with the U.S. making major decisions as an occupying power.

@edgarblythe,
In Oceania, truth and lies are indivisible. According to Obama, the American attack on Afghanistan in 2001 was authorised by the United Nations Security Council. There was no UN authority. He said that "the world" supported the invasion in the wake of the 11 September 2001 attacks. In truth, all but three of 37 countries surveyed by Gallup expressed overwhelming opposition. He said that America invaded Afghanistan "only after the Taliban refused to turn over Osama Bin Laden". In 2001, the Taliban tried three times to hand over Bin Laden for trial, Pakistan's military regime reported, and they were ignored.

READ IT ALL, Ed.

@JTT,
You're a walking plague of vitriol. Why not post your negativity on a thread that is about politics or topics that relate to the subject. This is intended to be a thread for quotes. You try to make every thread your toilet. if you think you're influencing anyone, you're delusional. You convince no one of your POV. You only convince others of your poor grasp on reality and your inability to relate to a community.

Ed was flat out wrong, Rag. He deserves to know the truth, as do you.

@edgarblythe,
You don't seem to like it much when someone points out your ignorance, Ed.

And what do you do about it? Like all the great American debaters here, you flee to ignore. Sad

It's not my point of view, Ragman. That's just another way for you folks who can't face reality to twist things to help you cope.

I'm not john pilger or James Lucas or any of the other authors who describe the evil that the USA heaps upon the poor of the world.

What benefit do you derive from refusing to acknowledge the truth?
