I would like to know the Male Hebrew translation for the female name Betty
and the female name Jeanette. Their names were not truly Hebrew, they were
Yiddish.
@DEBE18,
Those names aren't Yiddish, either.
Jeanette probably could go to Jonathan (e. g. Yonaton). Betty, probably to Beresh or Baruch.

I thought Jews were suposed to be named for departed ancestors...
@Fido,
I don't see where she's asking this contradicts that, or even that she or her children are Jewish. Oh and the departed ancestors thing is just Ashkenazim; Sephardim can name for the living.
@Fido,
THEY ARE ANCESTORS WHICH IS WHY I WANT THE HEBREW NAMES!!!

Betty would be Beth, or Elizabeth... Beth is a common word in the Area, but I cannot say its meaning off hand... I have a Bible dictionary around here some place that may help..
