Neat story - well, to me.
Beautiful van Dyck painting found:

caption - "Now thought to be worth £3.5m, this Van Dyck was described by Christie’s as “Flemish School, 17th century, portrait of a young girl with a fan”. It had a saleroom estimate of £13,200-£17,600. Photograph: Philip Mould Ltd"

I don't particularly care who painted this - just that it's gorgeous. Somehow I think of it as a portrait of Roberta at a certain age.

I suppose there are more stories like this out there, even an earlier find by this same fellow.

@ossobuco,
Who, moi?

Not so much the features, but the expression. I can see it. The face says to me a combination of "Oh, yeah?" and "Can I trust you?"

I've always admired Van Dyck. It's amazing to me that there are paintings such as this unknown and unfound--so far.

@ossobuco,
Quite fascinating! I hope we here in the US get to see the BBC show, Fake or Fortune, in a timely fashion.

Thanks Osso. Very Happy
