Quote:
Under the proposal, any instruction or materials at a public elementary or middle school will be "limited exclusively to age-appropriate natural human reproduction science." The provisions would also apply to a group or organization that might provide such instruction.

The legislation was amended from the original version which said no elementary or middle schools will "provide any instruction or material that discusses sexual orientation other than heterosexuality." Republican Senate sponsor Stacey Campfield of Knoxville said some of his colleagues were uncomfortable with that language.

He said the language is appropriate because "homosexuals don't naturally reproduce," and he said it's necessary because the state's curriculum is unclear on what can be taught.

@boomerang,
An excellent and catchy campaign that I hope will help utterly destroy Tennessee's homophobic law.

But I do question the choice of singers for the end jingle. Why would they pick a muppet to sing the campaign jingle??

@tsarstepan,
Have you forgotten The Rainbow Connection by Muppet Kermit T. Frog? (here with an exciting commercial) which ties in nicely with the rainbow flag and gay pride. http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/qq-rb_h.html

I was thinking about this some today so I looked up some info on George Takei. He is 74 years old and "came out" just 6 years ago. He's gone from hiding something about his life to saying -- take this word that you think is so heinous and just use my name in its place.

That's really pretty amazing when you stop to think about it.

So yeah, absolutely, "Go George!"

@OmSigDAVID,
kay {ke} e {i}

[soft, sort of clipped on the 'ke' part; not as drawn out as in English. equal intoning on both "syllables"]

@OmSigDAVID,
No, that's the Japanese pronunciation for those two syllables, Dave. You know the ones that you already know because when you say them you are momentarily speaking Japanese so you say them like the Japanese do.
