I read Vogue beginning in high school. My last subscription ended in 1974 or '75.
I remember a high school friend, during a public speaking class, gave a speech about Vogue. She said that each new edition became her Bible until a newer one appeared the next month.
What I remember most were the annual short story contests for high school students. One year, I think it was my senior year in high school (1965), the winner was a boy whose story, in part, criticized the conformist style of the "frats" or "soces." He mentioned circle pins and madras blouses and asked whether there was a "PX that gave out that stuff."
