Funny you should post this. Last night I was hired to play upright bass with a blues band and they did this song. When the band leader named Roy Hawkins as the artist I thought he was confused.
Nice find.
Natcherly.

Have I posted this before? Everyone knows it as a disco hit for the Brothers Johnson in 1977. Apparently one of the 'Brothers' was a cousin of Shuggie Otis and discovered the track on Otis's 1972 album.
I bought the Bangles 'Going Down To Liverpool' (I grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney in the City of Liverpool). I also bought the Katrina and the Waves single 'Walking on Sunshine' - which had a version of 'Going Down To Liverpool' which I thought lacked some of the exuberance of the Bangles 'original'.
Well guess what? The Katrina and the Waves version IS THE ORIGINAL. Kimberley Rew wrote it.
Here it is
Here's the cover
Clearly this is in my 'I don't own a television' phase - I don't remember a Leonard Nimoy video.

In 1965, folk singer Tim Hardin wrote and recorded Reason To Believe (later covered by Rod Stewart).
