@Walter Hinteler,
I will carry on, thanks. If someone walks around saying they are a Christian, Muslim, Jew, etc, it would be a good idea to know what your religion believes.

As far as I can tell, all we have around this site are a bunch of pretenders. I'm looking for a contender. Where or where can they be.

See, exactly that's the difference between the European (or btter here: German) culture/understanding and that, you represent.

Just now, we've a census here (and unfortunately, I belonged to these 10% who are questioned).

They are asking questions about religion as well (and you have to answer it the same way, as it is noted in the registry office: Christian, Muslim, Jewish ...).
Further questions, however, are voluntarily, since religion (as noted earlier) is private ("Diese Angaben sind aber freiwillig, damit niemand gezwungen wird, seine Ɯberzeugungen gegen seinen Willen zu offenbaren." = 'These informations, however, are voluntary, because no-one will be forced to reveal his beliefs against his will.')

@Walter Hinteler,
They aren't "your" beliefs. They are the beliefs of the Catholic Church. It's perectly fine to have your own beliefs, Walter. Just be up front about it. If someone says they are an airplane mechanic and doesn't know the name of the manufacturer and who runs the organization they belong to is not a very reliable source. You may be an advocate of "social justice", but don't hide in the Catholic Church with your own doctrine. It just muddies things up for the uninformed. Take a look around here at all the liberals who know absolutely nothing about Christianity or Islam. Now I have to include you in that group.

It's really touching to see a right wing evangelical Christian so out and proud. Well done you!

@izzythepush,
Where did I say I was a "right wing evangelical Christian"?

@Walter Hinteler,
We had a census last month, we all had to fill it in, but I left the religious bit blank. I'm from the UK. You don't have to justify your beliefs to anyone. I had a great time going round the Christmas Markets in Trier and Koblenz a few years back. I wish you a sold a bit more of your Mosel outside of Germany.

@Joe Nation,
Jesus would not have to torture anyone since he knows every thought and the intent of everyone's heart. Not a valid comparison. No human being has that ability.

@Renaldo Dubois,
You didn't, but this thread begins with you watching O Reilly on a far right propaganda 'news' outlet, and the last bit consists of you trying to proselytise Walter. I'd call those the actions of a right wing evangelical, but maybe I'm wrong. That might just be the way you get people to relax.

And that's the only reason Jesus wouldn't torture anyone? Because he can read peoples minds?

@izzythepush,
So you admit that your evidence that I am a right wing evengelical Christian is by watching Bill O'Reilly, a Catholic. The same religion as Walter.

You're too smart for this place. You really need to branch out.

Excellent, Renaldo. Very good.
Now, what would Jesus say to someone who used torture (for any reason) and who claimed to be His follower ?

Anyone who can turn water into wine can pretty much do whatever he wants. I don't think you or I would be able to influence them.

Nothing about torture in that Passage. Jesus is talking to his disciples. Nothing in that passage you gave has to do with torture.

@Renaldo Dubois,
Pretty simple, pilgrim, followers of Jesus were, and are, directly commanded by Him to love everyone as He had loved them.

No one who tortures, or agrees with the use of torture, can be seen as following that 'new commandment' of His Lord and Savior.

They have fallen victim to an occasion of sin.

Glory be to Jesus. Thank God I've never tortured anyone.

I still can find no mention of torture in that bible passage.

@Renaldo Dubois,
Never tortured anyone yourself, but you have spoken admiringly of those who might have, that in itself would be a sin against Jesus' commandment.
There is no mention of torture in the commandment, only the admonition to love as Christ loved. It's plain and simple, seeker, you cannot love and torture. You must choose.

You have.

No, watching Murdoch's vile propaganda machine makes you right wing. Trying to proselytise Walter makes you evangelical. Keep up.
