@Rockhead,
I sure did, gravel and sand, have to so when we get a hard rain the water has someplace to go, tortoises will drown. I worked on it some more today, still have a lot to do. The enclosed area hood lifts up, then it will have a removable screened top, painting the outside white. A couple more days and I should be finished!

I worked from home today and finished the tortoise pen. I decided to change a few things and took out the middle stones, dug it out and put a layer of large gravel then added some sod for them to graze on. I just put them in it for the first time, they are not sure what it is yet so they haven’t come out of their shells.

I went out to feed them some cactus and Henry was already in the house area.

Had to bring him out to eat.

@ehBeth,
Did you know the largest tortoise in the world is the Galapagos tortoise, second is the Aldabra tortoise, third largest are mine, the Sulcata tortoise.

You can actually buy a Galapagos hatchling for about 25 grand but you would need a much larger tortoise pen.
Cool

That really IS a beautiful job.

I love the portal for the little fellows to enter their mansion.

I hope that the retaining wall is high enuf
so thay thay will not get a running jump
and leap over it.

@OmSigDAVID,
The tortoises love their new pen. Henry is actually smiling in the photo.
