listening to an interview with Phil Rosenthal about his adventure with helping to create Voroniny, the Russian version of Everybody Loves Raymond, and the documentary he created about the experience

i never saw one episode of Raymond, but this Doc sounds pretty interesting

@dadpad,
do they export American Sitcoms to Australia?

i guess they do

In Australia, the Seven Network originally aired the program as summer filler, Network Ten later began airing the series which in the meantime became popular. Regular re-runs now air on Eleven and on cable network TV1 (previously on FOX Classics).

It was a great show with excellent, biting humor, wonderful interactions between all of the characters and very clever jabs at the relationship between a man, his mother and the unfortunate woman he married.

@Joe Nation,
That was such a funny show. The two episodes that I remember most are when Marie drove the car into Ray & Debra's living room and when Raymond accidentally passed out condoms instead of candy on Halloween (that whole episode was great). And, of course, all the family meals (when Debra cooked lol)....so hilarious.

What 's with that commie hammer & sickle, in the background ?

That seems a bit perverted; if it were going to Germany
or to Austria, woud thay have put a SWASTIKA in the background ?

The show ran from 1996 to 2005 -- well after the death of communism.

@OmSigDAVID,
as i said, i can separate the emblem from the regime, the colour contrast and simplicity of the design is very appealing

I thought by the thread title this would be a hatchet job on the show and avoided reading it. Glad to see others like it too. I have seen every episode at least one time and many episodes two or three. I no longer tune in, due to saturation, but it ranks high among my favorite sitcoms.

@OmSigDAVID,
the nazis certainly perverted the meaning of the swastika, but it's still a cool design

@djjd62,
Forgot about this documentary. I remember now when it got its limited theatrical run last year. Just added the DVD to my Hold list at the NYPL. I will let you know what I think of the film after I get the copy and watch it.

Sometimes ironic satire can be lost on you David. It's meant to be a cheeky visual joke. Whether it's a good visual joke or not, it's clearly not meant to be taken seriously.
