OK, this morning we've got some clown posting one thread after another with offers for insurance in India. But this clown is more clever than the run of the mill clown, and is using a different screen name for each post. Is that a way to let the staff know to be on the lookout for this? I don't really want to report a dozen posts in a row, and i don't want two dozen e-mails for this place in my e-mail.
@Setanta,
i've seen jes label them as viral marketing, i'm guessing so she and others can easily search through the tag to see if any links get added later on, i've used the tag myself at times if i suspect there setting up a topic for a spam link
@djjd62,
I would imagine she could cut and paste the text of the insurance "broker" and insert that , and let the machines do the sorting for the name. NO?
I really need more insurance though, maybe I should be thinking about some offshore low cost quality product. I pay in dollars and they pay my beneficiaries inwhat?
@farmerman,
The point here folks is that we've a single spammer who is attempting to sidestep spam filtering by posting under a new user name each time. That's the subject of my question.
@Setanta,
the spam links are now being posted by one person a brian964, i've reported him
@djjd62,
I did, too, dj.
But another (new) poster appears to be asking the car insurance questions which he responds to by answering the question. (by sending the spam links)
@Setanta,
i get what you're saying, but if theres no link it's not technically spam, that's why the viral marketing tag works as a clearing house to lump them all together when and if the links appear
something i've noticed is that when the viral marketing tag gets added there are usually no further posts
@Setanta,
I understand. I merely posed a solution. If the spammer just changes his name but uses the same message, we do a n"pattern" search for our search and destroy.
Please don't mark them as viral marketing (Robert's actually asked me to stop that, and I've removed my VM tags).
But do report them. You can always report one and add, in the body of the note to the Help Desk, a request for us to check more. Thanks!
@jespah,
will report with a footnote from now on

I suspect that his motive is malice, not profit.
