Stephen Colbert is a Superpac!

A PAC is a political action committee is a legally recognized entity in the US that is allowed to fundraise and run political issue ads for a given election season.

A superPAC isn't a PAC that has been bitten by a radioactive spider. It's a PAC that's been created and held by a major corporation.

In this case, Stephen Colbert, uberpundit, has established a superPAC with the weight of the Viacom Corporation.

@tsarstepan,
Cool! I wonder what he'll do with his new superpowers. One thing is for sure though: John Steward is toast! And so is The Onion and every other liberal comedian out there!

That is an excellent question. I'm wondering if the money will eventually be sent to a charity if that is allowed by the FEC rules. I'm sure he will end up doing so as every gimick he pulls, all the money ends up going to a big name charity of some kind.

@tsarstepan,
And if giving the money to charity turns out to be illegal, that's still good satire material.

@Thomas,
His superpac has its first televised commercial for Iowa.

Stephen Colbert Super PAC's first ad: What's it really making fun of?

If it dosent do anything else at least it will educate people to the dangers of unlimited money in politics by the rich and industry who can outspend unions by plenty.

@RABEL222,
I hope you're right. Maybe the Supreme Court will retract its decision on the citizenship of corporations and their ability to donate unlimited amounts of money to political campaigns and other nontransparent PACs.

@tsarstepan,
Not as long as we keep electing ultra conseratives. The Supreme Court will keep on making conserative opinions because it is a political entity. We need a truly middle of the road court. We might get one in 15 0r 20 years.
