meaning of 'no appetite'

When someone says he he has no appetite does it mean that he cannot eat any food at all as he is not hungry? Or does it also mean that he doesn't feel like eating although he can eat a little food if he wants to.

Thanks.

@tanguatlay,
It means "not hungry", but it also has a bad connotation as if there is a medical problem or lasting condition. If you ate a big lunch you would not say you have "no appetite" at dinner time, you would just say you weren't hungry. If you had the flu for a week you might say you don't have any appetite.

@tanguatlay,
Some might say they have no appetite for right wing politics or esl questions, so context is an imperative.

The following is the context.

Yesterday, I told my daughter I had no appetite. However, she gave a little of what she was going to eat. I ate the morsel of food she gave me. She then told me that I said I had no appetite, yet I ate what she gave me.

I told her that to have no appetite doesn't mean that I am so full that I could not eat the morsel of food she gave me. I also told her that it could mean both, that is, I am so full that I cannot eat any more food or I am not hungry at all but I could still eat a little food. Is she correct or am I?

Many thanks.

@tanguatlay,
"No appetite" does not mean full, it means "not hungry" so I don't think you are correct there, but people who are ill might not have any appetite but they still eat, so you are correct in that respect. "No appetite" does not mean "cannot eat".

@tanguatlay,
I think a better definition might be "no desire (to eat)".

A person could be hungry but have no appetite for squid.
A person could have no appetite but eat because they know they need sustenance.
