((( Dys and Diane )))

You two have had a long haul of it this year, haven't you? My thoughts are with you both.

Dys, I think we sometimes have a preconception of what a certain word means and when we hear that word applied personally we can feel like the rug has been pulled out from underneath us. I imagine that's how you felt when you heard the word, "hospice". As others have said, it doesn't necessarily mean end-of-life care and it doesn't mean that signing up for support services starts a clock ticking. What it does mean is that your medical care provider thinks you need additional support to meet your physical needs and that hospice care is one way to get that support. I hope you consider it in the spirit on living with a better quality of life rather than with thoughts of end days.

I think it must be very scary to hear your doctor say that. (It scares me to hear you say that your doctor said that.)

No matter the state of one's health it is always a good idea to ask questions and get answers. Approach it as a fact finding mission. As many people here have pointed out the suggestion may not be as dire as it seems at first glance.

day 2; not much interested in medical facts today, more interested in hope. I's nearly spring here and the fountain/pond is running but there's no colour in the garden. I was hoping to plant some flowers, a few at a time over the next 2 weeks. I was running on hope, I'm all out of hope. Perhaps hope is just around the corner but I don't see any tomatoes or kangaroo paws, roses will good looking and the hummingbirds are already being freed with the finches, I can watch.

@dyslexia,
Dys, Butrflynet's daffodils are blooming. Would you like us to bring some to you so you can enjoy their bright yellow?

She also has started tomatoes and other veggies that she could share with you for your garden. Would you like some?

Read the fine print: free drugs, any kind, anytime, as much as you want - and you already got the girl! Sign up immediately, you got to know a good deal when you see one. Jim Morrison signed when he was in his early 20's; so did Mick Jagger and he's still around and older than you. We'll all come and visit Very Happy

@High Seas,
read it, 35 years ago. Huxley wrote it about his experimental use of peyote while living with D.H. Lawrence in Taos New Mexio.

I am very happy to see a thread started on the hospice thing. I agree with the others that it is scary to hear, Dys, that your doc suggested it to you. I am relieved that hospice can go on for quite some time. Ask them if they'll plant some color in your yard. Tell them they can cut some of the flowers to take home for themselves.

I'm really hoping that hope is just around the corner, too, Bob
In the meantime, I'll send you these small reminders of what is to come.
Your "real" spring is not too far way. It'll be there soon. Then summer. A terrific time in your garden.
Before too long your garden will look like this.
Enjoy watching those early hummingbirds and finches visitors in the meantime .
