I attempted to open an e-mail in my Gmail account. I guess my finger slipped because another e-mail opened and when I went back the e-mail I wanted was no longer there. Is there a way to get it back?

Go to the trash folder, provided you haven't already deleted that folder forever.

On the left hand side, under the inbox, sent mail etc.

I had looked for Trash or something similar on my screen but hadn't seen it. After reading your message I was able sort of scroll down on the left.
