Why Can't I Print Original Questions & Discussions in Color?

Reply Tue 8 Mar, 2011 03:41 pm
I have been writing in green on A2K practically from the beginning. I have noticed lately (I think since some changes were made to the site) that I can only write a thread in black. Is there any way to write a thread in a color?

@hingehead,
Hang on - it worked for me!

When you mark it with a color does it look like this in the edit screen?
Code:[color=#BF8000]Hang on - it worked for me![/color]

If it doesn't then maybe you have javascript disabled. If it does look like that then I'd suggest it's how your browser is resolving the html.

Try editing the color code slightly by putting quotation marks around it and see if that helps, like so:

Code:[color="#BF8000"]Hang on - it worked for me![/color]

I just tried it and it works using the font colours button too. I deleted the question because I didn't want any comment. If you highlight the text and press on the font colour button then press your desired colour it will do the tags for you. I'm not sure how you used to do it, but the option hasn't been discontinued.

This is your first post, and I see it in color.

@Phoenix32890,
Now that is VERY strange. When I edited the original post, the color, size etc. options came up. Confused Originally that post was in black.

@Phoenix32890,

did you edit since you first posted it?

you answered your own question!
there's no BBCode editor when you write the initial topic, but you have it for editing...

The 'new post' box, which is now on the front page of the site, doesn't have the BBcode editor enabled. So you don't see the buttons up there like normal. But, the codes DO still work; if you enter the following:

[c olor=#008000 ] YOUR TEXT HERE [/ color]

With no spaces, it will make your posts that color.

Cheers

@Region Philbis,
Yes, I did edit it. Thanks for the explanation. I WAS going a bit bananas!
Another thing. I noticed that I WAS able to edit, even after people had replied. In the past, you could not do this. Is editing after other people have posted a new thing since Bob changed some of the configurations of the site?

@Phoenix32890,
I believe it's a timing issue. I'm not sure how much time though.

Slight correction...there is no BBCode editor if you compose your thread's first post using the box at the top of the screen on the homepage.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page where the Quick Links are located, you'll find links for Starting a Discussion and Asking a Question. If you click on those to compose your first post in the topic, the BBCode editor is available there.

It is one of the things we fed back about in the Feedback group. It probably won't be a very high priority since we do have the working alternative in the Quick Links.

@Region Philbis,
But it isn't green. I wanted a green one to match Phoenix's font color.
