Have you priced yourself out of the market? You really need to find out what other day care providers in your area are charging, and what they are offering.

I'm afraid you're going to have to contact these people to see what they charge. You can present yourself as a person new to the area who is interested in finding out what day care costs.

Good luck.

Or you can say that you're helping out a friend and looking for daycare.

Or... I know it is crazy but, you could tell them the truth, that you're considering doing it yourself and want to know what the current market is doing. Sometimes even competitors find they have so much in common that they'll work together.

Traditionally childcare was done for free (wife/mother) or for the wealthy by low paid servants who were marginally part of the household and therefore cheap to maintain. In either case the labor was devalued and that attitude still survives.

As a parent I will offer you my opinion.....

DAYCARE rates are outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They throw me into fits of rage
I have 3 children and daycare costs are more than my mortgage every month!!!!
I think daycare should be subsidized by the state and funded in the same way public schools are!!!
My only advice to you...is to analyze the parents income and set a weekly rate that they can reasonably afford!!!! Otherwise, go back to school and venture into a career that does not interfere with societies income
