Perhaps it is only me, but as the years go on, it seems that each country of the Super Powers has turned on itself. Conspiracy films, corrupt leaders, anti military jokes, politician jokes just to name a few examples. It seems that nearly every media controlled message promotes loss of unique identity and hatred of a nation.
In the American Block Buster, the Unknown, an American Doctor travels to Germany where he has an accident and awakens to everyone denying his identity. Later in the movie (as is expected) the answers are revealed, but it doesn't change the face that an international group is the cause. Within most movies, the die-hard patriot is condemned for their belief and is usually killed off for it. This hidden (or not so hidden) message suggests that a patriot is merely an misguided fool who knows nothing.
Real life example, a history teacher speaks about his country and makes fun of their 'nosing around in other countries' business', but when a century of isolationism occurs the same teacher scoffs at their 'ignoring of others' problems'. It would appear that the country can't be right, no matter what course they choose.
Is this the future that the previous generations wished for? Were land and country cease to be loved and respected in favor of believing that others are better. Is that not, in a sense, what the NAZI's did? Had masses of people believing that one group was better than another? If this road actually exists, and I haven't over speculated, where are the nations and the world headed?
@OletheaNorthern,
What you dont take into account is that we need an educated thinking electroate which is able to make rational decisions which we dont have. Most of us are driven by emotions.
