@plainoldme,
Do you think that a teachers starting salary should be higher?

@plainoldme,
Actually, I would overturn much of today's system, starting with teacher eduction.

@BillRM,
In the 60s, no one with a degree would be hired as a bank teller. None of the tellers at the branch of the local bank that I use have degrees.

@plainoldme,
That is a fair reply!

You may be surprised of how much studying and free labor that this dumb grunt hopes to be able to accomplish in his life.

@plainoldme,
I think that you may be onto something!
What would you overturn in our system that would have to do with teacher education?

What do you think about this young man? Does he give you any hope for the future?

I think she has already mentioned teaching subject matter rather than theories of education, and she is right. We went far down hill when we lost the teacher colleges, as when teacher education moved to the major universities the students began to spend most of their time on stuff that has little to no value in the classroom, where it counts.

@hawkeye10,
I can only guess that you are correct because I know nothing of what you are talking about. Do you have any info that might catch me up to date {some what}?

Hopefully a video if possible!

While I wait for a video from you I thought that others may like to see what I would consider to be a intellectual education!

I got tired of following this one and lost trtack of the election for judges in Wisconsin. Did the Unions succeed in unseating the judge they were targeting? Does it appear that the new legislation passed by the Wisconsin legislature limiting state employee union activities will stand?

Just to sum it up quick,

- The current judge (Prosser) won by about 5k votes out of 1 1/2 million or so, and there's a recount going on.

- The law is currently not in affect - it has been blocked by a judge on procedural grounds and awaits further review. The Republicans could try and re-pass it using normal procedures, but apparently lack the will to do so.

- Four recall petitions have been successfully filed against GOP Senators, and the deadline for the other four is about 2 weeks away. Dems say they will successfully file at least 2 more in that time.

The law is currently enjoined from being published and becoming law.
The restraining order has been appealed but the Wisconsin Supreme court hasn't even said if they will take that appeal.

The judge is currently waiting for the 2 sides to produce briefs explaining how the case can even go forward without the defendants. If the case can't go forward and the TRO isn't removed then the case and the law will be on hold until the legislature adjourns next January or the defendants agree to waive their immunity.

The first recall was turned in for a Dem Senator today.
http://gab.wi.gov/elections-voting/recall

It is being reported that 2 other recalls for Dem Senators will also have their paperwork turned in today.

A 5th GOP Senator (Darling) recall may file yet this week as well.

As of yesterday at 5pm, it looks like the attempts to force recalls against Dem Senators in Wisconsin expired.

As of now, 3 Dem Senators and 5 GOP Senators face recall elections.
The other 3 GOP Senator recall attempts have another week or 2 to file signatures but no one is claiming they are close that I can see.

8 recall elections in one year is still phenomenal.

Will the anger still be there to force a recall election of Walker in 8 months? I guess we will wait and see.

@parados,
On the face of it this suggests that the union outrage movement has peaked. It came close to altering the balance of political power in Wisconsin, but, so far, has failed.

Laughing You really think so? The bill is in abeyance and an unprecedented number of GOP senators will be fighting for their jobs. And Walker has to face a state-wide recall effort this November, which will draw heavily upon liberal areas and is practically guaranteed to succeed.

I would counsel waiting before claiming that the 'outrage movement' has peaked... if the recalls of just 3 out of 5 GOP senators happen (which polling strongly suggests will be the case), the balance of power will have shifted tremendously.

It shows the opposite george.
It is the union outrage that has 5 GOP senators in recall elections and still time to force the other 3 for a total of 8.

@Cycloptichorn,
Recall petitions can start in November to turn in in January. The petitions can't be turned in until one year in office which would be January.
