I am not an insect. However, some people found me very difficult to exterminate. They called me something like 'insane priest.' The first half of my name means the same as 'scrape,' & my last three letters are not gold.

Who am I Question

At a local bar, three friends, Mr. Green, Mr. Red and Mr. Blue, were having a drink. One man was wearing a red suit; one a green suit; and the other a blue suit.

"Have you noticed," said the man the blue suit, "that although our suits have colours corresponding to our names, not one of us is wearing a suit that matches our own names?"

Mr. Red looked at the other two and said, "You're absolutely correct."

What colour suit is each man wearing Question

Did I ask this before?

Richard was riding a particularly frisky horse when suddenly its bridle came off. As they raced down the road, a screaming Richard clung to the horse's ears for dear life. Out of the corner of his eye, Richard saw a car coming, and realizing the horse was completely out of control, he panicked.

Flailing his arms about, he accidentally caused the horse to come to an abrupt halt. What could bouncing Richard have done to make the horse stop Question

Answers:

1)Rasputin

2)Mr Green - green, Mr Red - red, Mr Blue - blue. Not one, but all of them were wearing suits that matched their names. Of course, it could also be other pemutations if we shift each color over one.

3)Each tire had 66 2/3 miles

4) The horse had blinders?

Hi s1391470. Welcome to A2K and to the riddles forum. Laughing A very brave first post, and I am pleased to say you have a 50% success rate. As does Mark for this section. When it comes to Math we never argue with Mark. I hope you stick around and come up with a few puzzles yourself.

"Rasputin" Cool
"The horse had blinders?" Cool

Richard accidentally put his hands over the horse's eyes. If a horse can't see he will automatically stop.

SUITS
"Red wears green, Green wears blue, Blue wears red." Cool

Since none of the men are wearing the color of suit that corresponds to their names, and Mr. Red was replying to the man in the blue suit, it had to be Mr. Green to whom he replied. We then know that Mr.Green is wearing a blue suit. Therefore, Mr. Red is wearing a green suit and Mr. Blue is wearing a red suit.

TIRES
"200 miles" Cool

200 miles. For every mile travelled, each of the two tires sustained one mile of usage. Therefore, in a total of 300 miles travelled, there would be a total of 600 miles of wear. And 600 divided by three is 200.

It becomes blindingly clear that, I cannot ?'fool' anyone, as the following answers prove.

Merlin:
Packages: Cool
Zero chance of three correctly labelled and one mislabelled.

David: Cool
Snap, Crackle and David (Damnation, you were supposed to say ?'Pop')

Mark:
DOGS Cool
Yes, What is the third dog's name.

UNCLES Cool
X's parent's sister married Y, so Y is X's uncle.
Y's parent's sister married X, so X is Y's uncle.

In English I think Mark means:

Two men, A and B marry each other's mother. One son was born to each marriage, in this case, Arl Jones and Roger Smith. Arl's father is A, and his half brother is B. Also, Roger's father is B, and his half brother is A; therefore, Arl and Roger are both uncle and nephew to each other.

Merlin, who must get up early writes;

White Soldiers: Cool
Nice strike.

This answer is noticed by a passing stranger who states, "Merlin's up to his Adrianisms again!" Very Happy

Fancy having a ?'ism' named after you. Kinda cute.

Shopping:
They would go shopping in five days, so Friday the 8th. Cool

I am sorry to inform you that the ?'committee' has deducted you half a point, due to the fact that, "There is no way to know when Lecky will take Abbie shopping. However, Abbie will take Lecky shopping on Friday the 8th"

Marriage: Cool
It is usually difficult to get a marriage license and a death certificate for the same person.

I did not know there was any difference. I thought to get married was a death sentence.

Mark at last got up, and neatly answered the last question. Cool Which I thought rather tricky. Shows how wrong one can be. I was going to leave it there. However, as it would appear nothing much else is about so, read the next lot and weep.

Moving swiftly along to Merlin who writes:

Gambling:
"Odds favo(u)r the house, but do not guarantee that the house will win (the house will win over a long series, but a large individual bet could break the bank). "

Whilst I have, "Every casino in the world would go bankrupt without a house limit on stakes. Without it, gamblers would keep doubling their stakes until they won. No matter how bad a losing streak they were on, they would eventually win."

Last, but not least Mark said, "I'm glad I got up after Merlin because I'd have given the same answer to the shopping question."

Thank you Mark, you too have been deducted a half point.

I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree. Your argument assumes that the gambler has an infinite amount of money, while the house's resources are limited.

One line:
5+5+5 (inequality sign) 550

5+5+5=550

Add one straight line to the +, to get 545+5=550
-------------------------

It would be interesting if we would try to find new equations where also one straight line must be added or removed.

here are two examples:
III = IX - XII
V = XI / VIII
