I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end.

TTH:

Examination
9 correct is 90 and 3 incorrect = -15 Cool
leaving a score of 75

Hmm, that seems to simple so what am I missing?

All questions are easy if you know the answer; we cater for all abilities! :wink:

Slippy:

…3rd degree attempted unanswered tautology… Cool

That, in itself, is logically true.

"A group of cohorts split the infinitive."

One of the most famous split infinitives occurs in the opening sequence of the Star Trek television series:

.

Here, the adverb "boldly" splits the full infinitive "to go."

I am currently not studying anything. I already have those degrees, except for the one I am 1 class short in. I refused to internship for free since I was already going to school full time and working full time. The job I had at the time dealt with the subject matter imo. The college did not agree and would not waive the internship requirement.

LATTICE POINTS

no - x^2 - 17 cannot be a multiple of 3 because x^2 = 0 or 1 mod 3, but 17 = 2 mod 3.

Don't believe everything you read in comic books, you can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word alone.

TTH:

Lattice points
No Cool

Thoh:

Smallest positive integer

112 Cool

Mark:

LATTICE POINTS

No - x^2 - 17 cannot be a multiple of 3 because x^2 = 0 or 1 mod 3, but 17 = 2 mod 3. Cool

A better explanation you will never see! Razz

Uh Try, I really didn't know the answer, but since it was a yes or no question I figured I had a 50% chance of getting it right Laughing

Well, at least I got all the letters in there! Laughing

TTH writes, "I really didn't know the answer, but since it was a yes or no question I figured I had a 50% chance of getting it right"

Statically speaking; when faces with a yea/no question, people answer Yes 66% of the time - so keep your Cool :wink:

Upon solving the system of equations x^5y^17 = r and x^2y^7 = s for x and y, the answers turn out to be of the form:

x = r^a/s^b and y = s^c/r^d, where a, b, c, and d are positive integers.

Calculate if you dare the sum a + b + c + d Question

x^5*y^17=r => x^35*y^(7*17)=r^7
x^2*y^7=s => x^34*y^(7*17)=s^17

x^34/x^34*y^(7*17)/y^(7*17)=x=r^7/s^17
a=7, b=17

udder way
x^5*y^17=r => x^10*y^(2*17)=r^2
x^2*y^7=s => x^10*y^(5*7)=s^5

x^10/x^10*y^(5*7)/y^(2*17)=y=s^5/r^2
c=5, d=2

so a+b+c+d=7+17+5+2=7+7+7+10=21+10=31

Start every day off with a smile and get it over with… Reminds me of my camping trip. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days I had to live on nothing but food and water.

Rap:

a + b + c + d

x^5*y^17=r => x^35*y^(7*17)=r^7
x^2*y^7=s => x^34*y^(7*17)=s^17

x^34/x^34*y^(7*17)/y^(7*17)=x=r^7/s^17
a=7, b=17

udder way
x^5*y^17=r => x^10*y^(2*17)=r^2
x^2*y^7=s => x^10*y^(5*7)=s^5

x^10/x^10*y^(5*7)/y^(2*17)=y=s^5/r^2
c=5, d=2

so a+b+c+d=7+17+5+2=7+7+7+10=21+10= 31
Cool Cool Cool

Man that is just so beautiful; like you were writing poetry!

You and your 5 friends decide to order a large pizza, but when you call in your order, the pizza man asks you how many cuts across the pizza you want him to make.

Although stunned at this question you tell him 6 because there are 6 of you.

Then the pizza man responds back ...
"I'll tell you what -- when your pizza arrives, if you can tell the driver the maximum number of pizza pieces you would have with 6 cuts, he will take $1 off the bill, and, if you can tell him the maximum number of pieces you would have in general with "n" cuts, he will give you the pizza for free."

What would your answer have to be to get the free pizza Question

Suppose that a, b, and c are positive integers such that a/3 = b/4 = c/5 and abc = 1620.

Find b Question

If you can fold or stack the pizza, you can double the pieces with every cut,,so with 6 cuts yout should get 2^6 (64) pieces. In general you can use this technique for 2^n pieces for n cuts.

b=9
