I saw that and others too, but I wasn't able to come up with 1 word from the rest of the letters. Maybe it is a word I don't know or maybe there is more than 1 word?

Ya'll have beaten me again! Razz You may have noticed that all the words appear in my pre-amble, as they have done on many occasionsÂ…but no more!

Mark and Thoh are in charge of counting people who get on and off the lift. They take turns riding to the top floor and back down, counting as they go. After two such trips each morning and two in the evening, there is an average taken.

Try wants to know the day's average.

1. On Smith's noon trip there were 32 fewer people than in his morning count.

2. Mark counted a total of 122 in the morning and noon counts, just one higher than his evening count, but 24 more than Thoh's Evening count.

3. Mark's morning count is the same as Thoh's average.

4. Mark's evening count was 37 more than Thoh's morning count.

Morning ~ Noon ~ Evening ~ Total ~ Ave Question

Treat all of the numbers as base 7. Convert them to decimal. They are consecutive squares.

I think it would have been nice if the answer were the same no matter which one was Smith.

Ok! Who the heck is Smith? Who has been messin' with the script?

Smith must be THOH!

So how did the confused populace figure itÂ…

Mark:

COUNTING
If Smith is Mark, then:
Mark: 77, 45, 121, 243, 81 Cool
Thoh: 84, 49, 98, 231, 77 Cool

If Smith is Thoh, then:
Mark: 78, 44, 121, 243, 81 Cool
Thoh: 84, 52, 98, 234, 78 Cool

TTH:

I wrote down (keep Mark, heck with Smith, I will take Thoh)

I think that just about sums it up! Laughing

Slippy:

CHO8(THE)DAWN

???

(And supplied the answer that defied us all)

Another riddle for you this fine morning.

http://www.uic.edu/com/eye/LearningAboutVision/EyeSite/OpticalIllustions/Images/cube.jpg

Suppose you have a solid cube, maybe 10 feet by 10 feet by 10 feet. Now you decide to cut off the corners (vertices?) like where the crosses are in the picture, except with every corner. Now imagine that you have a triangle on each and every one of these corners because you cut them off.

How many lines can be imagined/drawn/conceived that go THROUGH the cube and not across a face?

(It's hard to explain without a drawn diagram, but I can't draw Sad )

CUBE
Pick a point on any edge of the cube. An infinite number of lines can be drawn through that point and any other edge that doesn't share a face with the first edge. None of these lines lies on a face of the mutilated cube.

Ah... I asked the wrong question I guess. It should be from one point on the formed triangle to ANOTHER point on another formed triangle.

CUBE
If the lines must pass through vertices of the triangles, but not on the faces of the cube, then I get that each vertex can be connected to ten other vertices (0 on the corner it shares an edge with, one each on the other four it shares faces with, 3 on the diagonally opposite corner its partners share a face with, and 3 on the opposite corner that neither it nor its partners share faces with).

10 connections/vertex * 24 vertices = 240

But each connection was counted twice, so the answer is 120.

Is that what you get?

I came up with the same answers as mark on the train. For the number I got 5.33333333333 which is basically the same mark got, but his is shorter. I kinda liked all those 3s Laughing
