Can you arrange the odd digits 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, and the even digits, 2, 4, 6, and 8, in such a way that the odd ones add up to the same as the even ones Question


You can use arithmetical signs and decimals, but the idea is to try and arrive at the simplest possible solution. There are, of course, many possible answers.

The simplest I could think of was:

(7-5)*9-3-1=8*2-6+4

The way I saw your question was:
Mark + Thoh = 20 minutes
Mark + TTH = 15 minutes
TTH + Thoh = 12 minutes

so....

Mark (11 1/2) + Thoh (8 1/2) = 20 minutes
Mark (11 1/2) + TTH (3 1/2) = 15 minutes
TTH (3 1/2) + Thoh (8 1/2) = 12 minutes
that is how I came up with those #'s Laughing Laughing
which obviously weren't the numbers you had in mind Laughing

correct

on a digital clock, the numbers are made up of vertical and horizontal bars
the first digit of a 2 digit number is the vertical bars, the 2nd is the horizontal
for example, 0 is 4 vertical and 2 horizontal so 42
1 is 2 vertical and no horizontal so 20....and so on
i listed the digits 0 thru 8 so u needed to list 9 which is 3 vertical and 3 horizontal so 33.

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8......9

42 20 23 23 31 23 33 21 43....33

how did u get 32 mark? no bottom bar on the 9?

The enrolments are:
20 in English, 17 in Math, 11 in Social Studies.

It's just I can't sleep for worrying; why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean the same thing? Why are a "wise man" and a "wise guy" opposites? Why do "overlook" and "oversee" mean opposite things? So many classes, so little time!
