When using decimal notation is STEPHENS< STEVENS?

I don't understand the question. How does decimal notation relate to these names? Stephens comes before Stevens alphabetically; so that could make it less. However, Stephens is longer than Stevens; so that could make it greater.

A group of A2K'ers have been on vacation so long, that they've forgotten the day of the week. The following conversation ensues.

Mark: What's the day? I don't think it is Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

TehMeh: Well that doesn't narrow it down much. Yesterday was Sunday.

TTH: Yesterday wasn't Sunday, tomorrow is Sunday.

Thoh: The day after tomorrow is Saturday.

Stormy: The day before yesterday was Thursday.

Try: Tomorrow is Saturday.

Miss mi: I know that the day after tomorrow is not Friday.

If only one person's statement is true, what day of the week is it Question

I thought you might know this or have used it. It pertains to basic computer programming using ASCII codes (Octal, Decimal & Hexadecimal)....nevermind.
That was the class I had to take to write programs.

I thought up quite a few ways to do this, but ultimately I went through this process. I looked for what each person would have said if they were telling the truth, and from there I would.. extrapolate! Rolling Eyes

Mark: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday
Me Cool : Monday
TTH: Saturday
Thoh: Thursday
Stormy: Saturday
Try: Friday
Miss mi: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday

Yet again, it seems like you are the only one telling the truth Try!

I hope that you're not calling me a liar Evil or Very Mad

Well, depends on how addicted TTH is Twisted Evil
Interpreting the question in a different way yields the result: 2 and a half hours before TTH runs out!

Ditto on this too
1 @ 3:00 > 3:30
1 @ 3:30 > 4:00
1 @ 4:00 > 4:30
1 @ 4:30 > 5:00
1 @ 5:00 > 5:30
1 @ 5:30
6 pills = total time = 2 1/2 hours until I run out of the physical pills, but the pills effect should last for a total of 3 hours Laughing

You both have short memories. Remember - Mark doesn't lie.

Mismi is not saying today isn't Friday. She's saying today isn't Wednesday.

Therefore, Mark is the only one telling the truth. Today is Wednesday.

TTH:

Meat Cool

6 pills = total time = 2 1/2 hours Cool

"Today is Thursday, does that count"

It would have counted for a lot more if you had posted the day yesterday! Laughing

Thoh:

2 and a half hours before TTH runs out! Cool

As for your sequence; Twisted Evil

Mark:

Day of the week.

Today is Wednesday. Cool

It is Wednesday.

If it was any other day of the week, more than one statement would be true. To solve this little riddle, evaluate each person's statement and write down what day it could be according to the statement.

Miss mi's statement indicates it could be any day of the week except for Wednesday. When you list the days that it could be according to everyone's statement, it turns out Wednesday is the day mentioned only one time.

Mark: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday
TehMeh: Monday
TTH: Saturday
Thoh: Thursday
Stormy: Saturday
Try: Friday
Miss mi: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday

1000000 = Ten to the Power Six
1000000 = MM = 1000 (Roman) * 1000 (Roman)

PIZZA
40+90=130

SMALLEST to LARGEST
10log(2^1999)
1999^2
2^1999

My first question!

Try and Mark were fighting over the lying scenarios. I got tired of the fighting, so I grabbed you two and put you on a piece of newspaper so that you could not touch.

How did I do this?

Mark:

1000000 = Ten to the Power Six Cool
1000000 = MM = 1000 (Roman) * 1000 (Roman) Cool

Laughing Better than: 1000000 = MM = Man March

PIZZA
40+90=130 Cool

SMALLEST to LARGEST
10log(2^1999)
1999^2
2^1999

Order the following numbers from smallest to largest:

a) 2^1999
b) 1999^2
c) 10log2^1999

Now I have it: b c a.

2^10=1024, so 2^1999 is roughly 10^600. 1999^2 is roughly 4•10^6. Observe that 10=log2^1024 < log2^1999 < log2^2048=11. Hence the third number is between 10^10 and 10^11.

What went wrong? Shocked

My first question!

How did I do this?

The paper was under a door and we were each side of it?

Although how you got Mark to move is a riddle, because he is a super fit squash player!

Sorry Thoh I have gotten precisely nowhere with your series. Interesting though!

Mark (M) and Dutchy (D) can paddle a canoe together in still water at 5 mph.

M alone paddles at 2 mph, D alone paddles at 3 mph.

At 12 noon they start paddling together down the river, which flows at 1 mph.

At 1 pm D (who was in the back) lost his paddle but did not tell M.

At 2 pm M looked back, saw that D did not have a paddle and punched him upside his head, which made D lose his straw hat. Then M gave his paddle to D who paddled upstream to the lost paddle.

Immediately after retrieving the paddle, they turned downstream and paddled together until they reached D's hat at (what time) Question

Note: Both the lost paddle and the hat floated with the current.

This was too hard in my head, my brain was too busy visualizing Mark punching Dutchy in the head Very Happy

I drew out a diagram and will try to explain it here:

At 1 pm, they were 6 miles down river.
At 2 pm, they were 9 miles down river while the paddle was 7 (2 miles behind them)
At 2:40 pm, they were going against the current and retrieved the paddle at 7 and 2/3 miles. At this point, the hat had moved to the 9 and 2/3 mile mark.
At 3:04 pm, they catch up to the hat!

Apparently, when you typed:

you meant:
10^log2(1999)
