Posts to these puzzles may be submitted at any time between 00.00 and 23.59. Some of these times (00.00,00.01,00.04,...22.09) when regarded as 4 digit integers read as perfect squares.

In week 1, Mark, Dick and Harry submitted their entries in that order on the same day at different times that all read as perfect squares. Harry's square was the sum of the other two squares.

In week 2, Harry, Mark and Dick submitted their entries in that order on the same day at different times that all read as perfect squares. Dick's square was the sum of the other two squares.

In week 3, Dick, Harry and Mark submitted their entries in that order on the same day at different times that all read as perfect squares. Mark's square was the sum of the other two squares.

Harry submitted his entry at exactly the same time each week.

At what time did Mark submit his entry:

I'm sure it was a tough loss for them. The Pats had to work for the win for a change, made it a good game.

SERIES

(a) 359401 Cool
(b) 343 (7^3) Cool
(c) 10101 (101st term) Cool
(d) 249501 (500th term) Cool

The nth term of the series is n^2 - n + 1. Cool

Way to go Mark!!! Razz

a) 600th member is 359401
b) 19th member is 343 = 7 cubed
c) 101st member is 10101 (palindrome, and as binary = 21(base 10)
d) 500th member is 249501 (and the 501st is 250501, which is 1000 greater)

You could generated the cubes > 1 and < 10000. Then generated the 600 members: each is greater than the previous by (member number - 1)*2.

(a) is given directly from the table, (b) compare the list of cubes with the generated members under 10000, (c) 5-digit binary numbers would have to begin and end with "1" with the middle three digits each being either "0" or "1" -- 10101 appears, (d) the gap between one member and the next is twice the sequence number of the first, and so members 500 and 501 are 1000 apart.

Has anyone a clue about Stormy's stumpers?

Six consecutive non-zero digits are written on separate cards. Two cards were each given to Arry, Barry and Carrie. Each of them used their two digits to form a two-figure number, and then they multiplied together the three two-figure numbers.

They then spelled out the answer by placing the six cards in a particular order.

With a little threesome logic - and far fewer multiplications than you might expect - it is possible to work out what their three two-figure numbers were.

What, in increasing order, were they Question
