I wish/pray that God would stop the production of human beings. I wish God would jump everything forever so nothing would get hurt.

TTH has been pining after you; I told her nothing about the secret mission!

Etc; I think not! He is the creator; did he not create Adam and Eve? Besides, where would farmers sow their wild oats?

Ten people each have a deck of cards. If each person draws a card randomly from his or her own deck, what is the probability that one pair of cards will have the same face value and the same suit Question

Do you want the probability of at least one matching pair or exactly one matching pair. The former is:
1 - (51*50*49*48*47*46*45*44*43)/52^9 = 0.603

Howdy folks, apologies for being a little late but; I just got lost in thought….. It was unfamiliar territory for the most part, but then; 42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot. Which is why, 99 percent of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

Mark:

CARDS
Do you want the probability of at least one matching pair or exactly one matching pair. The former is:

1 - (51*50*49*48*47*46*45*44*43)/52^9 = 0.603 Cool Cool

That will do very nicely! Very Happy

For the latter:

Spades, Clubs, Hearts, Diamonds: 4 choose 1--- C(4, 1) = 4

Spades---[C (10,2) <choose 2 persons

(13/52) <13---spades random

(1/52) <second person only one choice

(51/52)^8] <the other 8 cannot choose this

Therefore: 4 [C(10, 2)(13/52)(1/52)(51/52)^8]

Or maybe not!

CMAHIDNEA = made in china Cool

Howdy Etc <Waves> Drawing is good; I have never met an artist I didn't like.

As for myself; I am just doing what I do, which is not that unusual because that is what I usually do and if I didn't do it; it would indeed be unusual. However, I can't draw for toffee!

I won't say what I think the previous two are since that will be a big hint for mine, but if I'm correct, mine is probably a more commonly known phrase:

A large tub of ice cream has a diameter that is twice as large as that of a small carton. The large carton is also 1½ times as high as the small carton.

If the small carton is sold for $0.65, what should be the price of the large carton, assuming that both are sold at the same price per ounce Question

(Also assume that both cartons are cylindrical.)

It is also a given; I have eaten the contents!

I think not. I get:
C(10,2) * 1/52 * 51/52 * 50/52 * 49/52 * 48/52 * 47/52 * 46/52 * 45/52 * 44/52
= C(10,2) * 51! / (43! * 52^9)

Once is chance, twice is a coincidence, three times is an enemy action….. which is why I never turn my back on a charging turtle, and don't get me started on the chance of successful outcome of a spitting contest with a llama…
