TEMPERATURES
The poles (-40).
F = 1.8C + 32
x = 1.8x + 32
x - 1.8x = 1.8x + 32 - 1.8x
-0.8x = 32
-8x = 320
-x = 40
x = -40
The only place that might be -40 degrees cold must be Antarctica. However, I guess the other pole must be nearly as cold.
WHAT THE X?
-7 or 5
Do you mean-
(1)x*x + (2)x + (-35) = 0
a = 1
b = 2
c = -35
(-b +/- d)/2a
d*d = b*b - 4ac
x = -5, 7
QUADRATIC FORMULA
x = [-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a

Okdoky;

I have them on eBay at the moment, but I will pull them off if you can answer this:
An island is inhabited by 45 Lenny nopets of three varieties: 13 are blue, 15 green, and 17 purple. Two nopets of different colors (blue and green, say) change to the third color (purple) if they meet.
Can they all end up of the same color
With reference to your additional comments. I am sorry to say that I fail to see any correlation between ?'size' and ability. I feel sure PJ would be more impressed with the latter rather than the former. However, I have been known to have been wrong in the past. :wink:
BIG bonus points!
Did you know? Together they make a sentence.

Can you combine the three numbers in each group to get the same result. You can use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponentiation.
Here's an example of a solved puzzle:
Question:
Group 1: 15, 19, 24
Group 1: 11, 30, 36
Group 1: 20, 22, 36
Answer:
Group 1: 24 / (19 - 15) = 6
Group 1: (30 + 36) / 11 = 6
Group 1: 20 + 22 - 36 = 6
Code:
Group 1: 2, 5, 24 Group 2: 1, 3, 30 Group 3: 6, 10, 26
Group 1: 15, 35, 39 Group 2: 16, 20, 24 Group 3: 18, 23, 26
Group 1: 21, 35, 46 Group 2: 25, 38, 43 Group 3: 23, 36, 46
