I don't know what makes a show great. I used to hang on every episode of Maverick and Cheyenne. But I would be alone here in asserting them as "great," I suppose.

Glad to see all the votes for Curb Your Enthusism. I was going to nominate that show myself but decided it hadn't been on long enough. It's Seinfeld with the gloves off.

Haven't watched TV for years. Can't think of any prog I'd stay in to watch instead of going out or reading a book or magazine.

The Phantom of the Open Hearth.

Was on PBS... 'bout 2 hours (maybe an hour and a half) movie adapted from Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories and Other Disasters by Jean Shepard. some of the same material was used for the movie Christmas Story ("You'll put your eye out!")

"The Beverly Hillbillies": quite possibly the show that inspired then-FCC Chairman Newton Minow to declare that TV was "a vast wasteland." And this was years before cable!
