I don't know what makes a show great. I used to hang on every episode of Maverick and Cheyenne. But I would be alone here in asserting them as "great," I suppose.

I can't believe *no one* said this:
West Wing
The Phantom of the Open Hearth.
Was on PBS... 'bout 2 hours (maybe an hour and a half) movie adapted from Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories and Other Disasters by Jean Shepard. some of the same material was used for the movie Christmas Story ("You'll put your eye out!")
"The Beverly Hillbillies": quite possibly the show that inspired then-FCC Chairman Newton Minow to declare that TV was "a vast wasteland." And this was years before cable!
The Simpsons.
The Goodies.
Monkey.
Monty Pythons Flying Circus.
Blackadder.
Red Dwarf.
Seinfeld. (But only just.)
The Money Or The Gun. (Aussie show you've probably never heard of.)
The Simpsons (before Series 11)
Seinfeld (The best show ever)
The West Wing
Curb your Enthusiasm
Six feet under
Frasier (before it got inexplicably shite).
Carnivale.
Blackadder (brilliance! I pity anyone who has not watched it)
Present day:
Six Feet Under
24 (the first series)(it's a little soap opera now)
Alias (same thing.)
Ah freshness.
Edgar votes for Maverick and Cheyenne, me too. Still have nightmares about the bear.
