Before leaving this world do you think it is important or preferable to leave something creative behind by which you will be remembered by many or more people versus just living your life out in an ordinary way and being remembered mainly by your immediate family and friends?
By something creative I refer to a wide area including things such as written books or music, photography, artwork, a collection of yours or even a legacy or reputation if you are a political figure or journalist or a person with a distinguished career for example.
@seashell,
It is one solution to "purpose of life" or "perpetuation of self after death" problems. However, once one realises that "fame" lies in the gift of others, it becomes a rather infantile quest.
@seashell,
We are all equally dead. Albert Einstein and a baby who died in childbirth 50,000 years ago are equally affected by the thoughts of people alive today. i.e. not at all.
The majority of us are not creative in the sence of writing books or compose music.
Others are creative on a smaller basis and many of us have something that has been made by Mother/grandmother/great..... or Father/.... but also other relatives. Small things which are treasured in the family.
But you cannot make something if you are not creative.
I think the best you can do is to sort photos, letters and other things in a folder or whatever and write who is on the pictures (get rid of the ones of no interest).
Maybe add a few words about the person or a nice little story in connection with when the pictures was taken. This might be of interest for your family especially if someone is interested in familyhistory.
It seems as more and more people are getting interested in genealogy.

Important is a
relative word.
Thus, it has meaning only in reference
to
designated criteria. U have not designated any.
What is important by some criteria
is not important by other criteria.

I don 't remember that I have ever wished to be remembered.
A life spent trying to be remembered after you die, is a life wasted.
A life spent trying to benefit others after you die is a life well spent.
Motive is key.
MY preferred technique is to pick out someone
whom I wanna benefit (sometimes a stranger)
and hand over enuf cash that (hopefully)
he or she will deem significant; enuf for a thrill,
from abrupt unexpected cash. Sometimes it works; not always.
I prefer to do that while LIVING.
MOTIVE is to create joy.

@OmSigDAVID,
Acts of random kindness are a selfish means to live ones life by. All that joy you get giving, lets be honest here, thats the principle reason you would do such a thing ISNT IT
people today pfft.
@Smileyrius,
If it is your only motive its wrong but if not why should n t you?

Since age
O, I have always been
very selfish.
I advocate selfishness (tho not stinginess) for everyone.
I love
libertarianism, Individualism and hedonism.
That 's
AMERICA to me.

If you do leave something behind, make sure it's good enough to cause others to enslave themselves to take care of it once you're gone.
@Fil Albuquerque,
My apologies mr Fil, but it appears the balance of jovial sarcasm didn't translate through the interwebs.
Regardless of motive, any action that would have a positive effect if continued the world over, is worthwhile.
@Smileyrius,
I might add that people who have returned from death
have reported
LIFE REVIEW EXPERIENCES wherein
thay feel the effects that thay have had on others.
If that is true,
then the created joy will return to me like a boomerang!
SELFISH !

Well, if u r on the way out, Wayne, then
HOW can u assure that everything
u leave behind is as
good as u recommend??????

My husband died 20 months ago. We had no childen together.
We had a new grandniece this December. You don't know how good that made me feel that some of his cells continue on within her. That is leaving something "creative" behind, in my mind.
@OmSigDAVID,
You could try a salesmanship course on line.
@seashell,
Well I believe its almost genericly transcribed into us to want to make a diference. I also belive that the farmer that grew the grain that feed Einsteins great grand parents. Were as important to our Techonological advacements as Einstein himself
@OmSigDAVID,
You gotta sell yourself if you wanna be remembered.
