@peter jeffrey cobb,
It's important that some people make lasting contributions, however, it's not the person but the character that counts.
We may not remember Samuel Clemmens but we'll never forget Mark Twain.

@OmSigDAVID,
Not one bit.
It's not at all important that you be remembered.
It may mean something that your essence be remembered though, but you gotta sell me on that.

I will re-iterate, redundantly,
that I have no interest in being remembered.

I don 't know what u meant about "essence" (above).

@OmSigDAVID,
I think remembered is misleading.
What's the value of an innocent man's freedom, won by precedent?

"Is it important to leave something creative behind"
Of course it is. We do so because we have hope. It doesn't work so well if our motives are selfish. Which may be what you are getting at?

@OmSigDAVID,
The good selfish is the one who knows that by serving a community interest he is helping himself and serving his own needs...that is what having a sense of STATE and LAW means...most will never learn it, they simply lack critical mass to get it...be aware of freedom fighters and anarchists...enough of Che Guevara´s...

i would like to be remembered after i'm dead, but more to the point, outside of a few family and friends (present company at A2K included), i'd love to be forgotten while i'm alive

If it's important for you to leave something creative behind, that's awesome. I think it's also important that it be a benefit today, meaning what you do should matter now, as well.

@djjd62,
Memory is important not of people but of their deeds...
We should obviously leave something behind but not ourselves...

Each citizen shoud endeavor to subordinate the well-being of the community
to his own aggrandizement and exaltation and exultation.
Triumph to the Individual, who is the creator of the community.
Each citizen shoud exploit the collective as well as possible for optimal effects.

The VALUE of each man's life is how much JOY he was able to cram into it, for himself.

I 've always held him in contempt; he ranks the same as Hitler.

@Fil Albuquerque,
i really don't care if i'm remembered or not, my point was, apart from a select few, i'd like very much to be forgotten while i'm alive
