@Finn dAbuzz,
but of course, we don't have real fresh herring here..

I was out of my mind to move here.
I also like it here.

@ossobuco,
Osso - listen...unless you live in some frigid northlander region you will not have fresh herring.

I live in Dallas and can get perfectly acceptable roll mops

They are pickled...they survive transit.

I'm sure there is a pommy upscale food market somewhere near you that sells them.

@Finn dAbuzz,
There is a very good fish market in Albuquerque.

Nantucket Shoals Seafood Market
5415 Academy Road Northeast, Albuquerque, NM 87109 (505) 821-5787 ‎

Here's someone's review of it that also includes a list of some of the seafood they have, as well as directions:

Here's another, with photos:

Don't get me started... I miss the ocean.

In the mean time, Happy New Year to All, in twenty two minutes.

@Butrflynet,
Good, this may improve the restaurants, unless they concrete the fish and fry them berserkly, as usual.

You have to mean on top of the Radisson, currently called Restaurant 11, formerly Carousel. I had a famulous romantic dinner there (whatever it was called back then) in 1985.

I was there in 2003, for a convention.
I might have erred qua the name.
I 've stayed in both of those hotels.
