Yes. No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public, as Barnum, I think, once pointed out. And no political guru (take Karl Rove, please) will lose his job underestimating the intelligence of the US voter.

[I know that's smug and elitist. No need to point it out, but go ahead. Mea culpa.]

Actually, what Mencken wrote was:
Quote:
No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

Actually, although I quote that bit very, very often...Bartletts only registers this item as an "attributed" rather than as a definite quote.

And they list the attribution as:

"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence (or taste) of the American people."

I must be getting loopy. I could swear he wrote "intelligence". I simply wanted to be accurate, but clearly his citation already was.

I really have to get my meds sorted out one of these days.

I do think that there is no problem with the people, at all.

Just inform yourself about socialism and its tasks, it has to parent the people that work is important, that application is essential.

Once it succeeds (which takes a lot of time) communism can be installed.

The people are no problem, really. The russians thought about it.

And there has never been communism.

Was there money in the USSR? Yes. There is no money in communism.
Was the communism worldwide? No.

Actually, it matters not what "ism" you're into, someone has to be in power and power corrupts....
