This should be required reading for everyone on the planet.

@Robert Gentel,
Nick's poor baby Smile I don't use A2k unless I'm extremely bored, so the wait is no big deal, if it's ever fixed at this point. Most other people seem to be unsympathetic and too stuck to A2k's current version. I understand the pros and cons, but cons can mostly be fixed.

And the spammer comes back, and adds a link. Well, think we're gonna see it? Think you will, and will report it to us?

Not to argue, but I do it all the time. Actually, when I see one new member responding to many old threads, I go looking for it.

@roger,

unlimited editing would allow someone with bad intentions to add spam to an old, buried post...

@Region Philbis,
Oh! That's right. Didn't think it through.

They must be getting paid per hour/day that the link survives, rather than the number of clicks. Otherwise, someone is posting stuff whose only virtue is that noone is seeing it.

@roger,
A lot of the time they are doing it for search engines to see, and actually want nobody on the forum to see it (that way the spam links live longer).

But I'd not try to figure them out, they are spammers, not the brightest bulbs in the shed and aren't going to make a lot of sense. All user-posted links on able2know have a "nofollow" attribute (also known as a "link condom") that basically tells search engines to ignore it. So the smart spammers ignore us and the ones we get are really just wasting everyone's time, including theirs.

@Robert Gentel,
Interesting. Maybe I should hope for smarter spammers.
