Man capris pants

Okay I admit it -- I am toatally clothes blind. Clothes either fit or they don't and they either have a pattern or they don't. Back int the olden days when I was working I used a personal shopper so I didn't have to pay attention.

So when I notice a clothing trend it must already have saturated the market.

And the clothing trend I've just noticed is men wearing capris pants. They aren't quite as long as women's capris pants but they're not short enough to be shorts. They're man capris.

What's up with that?

@boomerang,
Man capris are honestly pretty hideous, but I guess men do deserve the right to wear what they please. Some days it's too cold for shorts, but we don't want pants, so we resort to capris. I guess men have this same drama in their life? The horror.

@boomerang,
They should have long-sleeved tee-shirts with half the forearm exposed. I hate folding up my shirt sleeve when I have things to do.

@Lash,
They're long shorts (I think they're called board shorts). The dudes at my company all wear 'em, all Summer long and into warm Autumn days as well. Hell, they expose more leg than I do most of the time.

@jespah,
There are also short pants though, as in much more fitted than board shorts. Not sure which type boomer is referring to.

These aren't board shorts, for example:

(First result for "capris for men.")

I do think it's a trend that's on its way out, it was part of the whole Hedi Slimane slim silhouette thing that's going bye-bye. (That's for the trendy version, not the board short version.)

@sozobe,
These dudes are nerdy, not trendy. The shorts hit at the knee.

@jespah,
Shorts that "hit at the knee" are what surfers wore in the 60s and called baggies . . .

If everybody had an ocean
Across the U.S.A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
Like californ-I-A
You'd see 'em wearin' their baggies
Huarachi sandals, too
A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
Surfin' U.S.A.

My crew wears them all the time in the summer, usually with work boots. As with all fashion, if you got the body you can wear anything:

we would have called those flood pants as kids, and teased anyone who wore them

bullying, making some kids laugh and others cry since the beginning of time

Yeah-- the ones like soz pictured. Those are the ones I've been seeing. They're longer than long sorts.

I agree that men should be able to wear whatever they want but men have traditionally been much more sane about fashion than women. These just seemed a bit odd.

@boomerang,
Are Capris pants better than a Codpiece?

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
While looking for information about the Codpiece, I found this:

Agreed, Green Witch.
If you've got the right body, just about anything can successfully be your "look".
You could wear a flower pot on your head & still look great! Smile
(Of course, it helps to be on the youthful side, too.)
