dishnet ripoff

buyer beware, we weren't aware. our fault. anyway 2 months ago we got sold (we bought) dishnetwork to replace our cable service. the day it was installed we called and tried to cancel, "no cancel, you signed the contract" was our response. we had "no service" outages lasting over an hour every day during prime t.v. hours we went back to cable, now dishnetwork wants $385.00 to discontinue service.

@edgarblythe,
I thought that Fed LAw gives you 3 business days to actually decide. Try that approach under "Lemon laws".
You were sold something under fasle claims

I think farmerman is right. Most contracts have a buyer's remorse clause that gives you three days in which you can cancel it. I know that is true for retail sales like furniture, etc. I would think it'd be the same.

I did that, I got "that's not in the contract you signed" I said "but that's the law" no response. 4 phone calls today from dishnet "what's your problem?" finally I just canceled autopay from my acct. frustrating as hell.

@dyslexia,
One o those dishes makes a great garden cloche to put over yer pumpkins . Im glaqd you yanked your money cause anything they do to enforce your contract will show that you cancelled within an alloted time.

Im sure they are gonna dun you. But, as I recall from previous exchanges with you, you are not unfamiliar with the seasonal greeting of "**** you"

When we switched over to gas heat and water this year, the clowns who did the job stuck in a faulty gas tank. (It has no way of metering the gas) SO I told them that we were charged for it and we werent given the tank promised. SO the exchange was an ongoing attempt for them to try to collect this part of the contract. They even threatened legal action. I countered witha letter that invited them to do so . That way we would be able to test the Pa Consumer protection laws in a case that was clearly covered in the booklet.

some men just came and picked up the equipment (receiver) and took the dish from the roof which is kinda interesting because the last phone call we got yesterday was to tell us they would send a box to us in which we were to return the receiver to them.

@dyslexia,
They probably figured since you stopped payment that you wouldn't send the equipment back. How do you like that? They try to cheat you and end up looking like they think you will rip them off? Sad. I'm glad they came and got the stuff and hopefully y'all can settle into something else.

dys, how is Lady Diane feeling? Please give her my love.

Obviously, they assumed everyone shares their ethics. Laughing

Be glad they're gone. Hopefully you won't hear from them again since they've figured out they won't get any more money from you.

@dyslexia,
Don't you hate it when that happens? Were it me (just a layman like yourself), I'd probably write their legal department a letter with words to this affect:

To whom it may concern,

I purchased your product in good faith and had every intention of living up to my end of the bargain. It did not, however, function as promised and I immediately made you aware of this fact. Since you were unable to perform your end of the contract, I respectfully requested that you cancel it altogether. I object to your deplorable tactic of trying to charge me for a product you couldn’t deliver. At this time, I am demanding that you cancel my subscription, set my balance to zero, send me confirmation that this has been done, and then never contact me again. Should you choose not to comply with this reasonable request; I intend to hire the best attorney I can find to go after damages including, but not limited to, actual attorney’s fees and any and all other relief the court may deem appropriate.

Ps. A copy of this letter is going into my file to show that judge, should you choose not to do the appropriate thing and cooperate now.

Sincerely,
(Nothing in the above post should be construed as legal advice; I'm no lawyer.)

@Eva,
Unless he gets a summons, of course. Never give away a default judgement.

@OCCOM BILL,
OB, yeah we basically said the same thing but on the phone, putting it in writing is a damn good idea, cc to state consumer protection and BBB.

May as well memorialize the equipment pick-up too, while you're at it.

@roger,
That's true except when I'm sitting on the pot in the loo trying to pass a stone turd.
