Why do women still wear high heeled shoes when they are bad for their feet, their legs, their spine, and their safety?
BBB
Only doctors and nurses wear shoes with 'heals'.
I feel like a heel for writing that.
@contrex,
Ooops, OK, perfectionist. High Heeled!
The older I get the more trouble I have with spelling.

I'm OK with spelling but my memory isn't what is was.
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Because they make us feel and look sexy, but everything in moderation.
We wear them because we like them. There are many alternatives so no one is forcing us by lack of choice.
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Oh BBB, I used to love wearing high heels - I so wish I could now.
yep, made
me feel verra good, much more confident (don't know why, just did) and didn't hurt my feet way back then!
@Green Witch,
Bingo ! ! !
Somebody give that lady a cee-gar . . .
Funny, I thought the European comfort shoe was haute couture until I heard of Manolo Blatniks or whatever his name is. Saw some in Saks or a similar store a couple of years ago. Don't understand why women would pay so much for so little!
Then there is the chopine, a kind of high platform shoe that became popular during the Renaissance and remained in style for a century or two:
http://www.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=chopines&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=kwCYTMeCCIWBlAfZjKnSBQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCMQsAQwAA&biw=1175&bih=867
The pictures are strange, with Chopin in the middle. Supposedly, the chopine originated as a way of getting the lady out of the mud but became high (pun intended) fashion and is the source of our term, high culture, as rich women wore them.
When I saw the grim-faced "Posh Spice," or Mrs. Whatever Soccer Player, in her towering heels with what looked like 2 or 3 inch platforms at the wedding of William and Kate yesterday, I couldn't help but think the source of her expression was on her feet.
What is her first name? Never mind. I don't care.
Last fall, sarah palin was shown in Newsweek wearing shoes whose heels were higher than her feet are long. Here is a woman, who is probably about 5' 4", literally walking on stilts. Why?
Neither of these women looked sexy. They looked silly.
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
high heel shoes give confidence to them
I agree, certain shoes regardless of how painful they may be to wear will be worn for style.
I wear them because i feel sexy walking with them!
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Its depends on your outfit like if you wore maxi dress so go with high heels! with tights and jeans flat shoes looking better! Also I think high heels added a charm in your personality!
Because it looks very classy and beautiful. I also like to wear high heels shoes.
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
They go for high heels because they suit to them on their kind of outfits they wear.
After work I went shopping for some new shoes to wear on my next smart ride. I like em
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Women's first preference till date is 'High Heals'. They have a special kind of attachment with it, high heals generally goes well with every kind of outfit; be it be traditional, semi-traditional, western etc.
@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Yes, When you wear high heels, the length of the muscle between your heel and your knee is shortened. While wearing high heels, pulling that muscle isn't a problem. However, if you are running on flat feet, it is much easier to pull or strain your calves.
